Day 4 was ice cream-less as I decided to have some mixed nuts instead - Go me

Today's temptation is a lemon muffin - which maybe a deal breaker if I can't persuade my daughter to have it instead.

Well tomorrow will tell :)

Welcome on board.

Day 3 was successful. Day 4 not bad so far, although I am weighing up if ice cream would be a major slip or not.

Oh well check back tomorrow to see what I decided

Day 2 survived, and onto day 3 emoticon

Not feeling too bad so far today. And not nearly as focused on candy bars.

I would like to join in, I went sugar free yesterday, with a "anyone can last 1 day without sugar" mantra.

I am on day 2 and struggling - so instead of hitting the vending machine at work I decided to join this challenge and chug some more water. I can't wait for it to get easier and not constantly fill my head with images of sweets.

We can do this

I googled "no sugar for 30 days" and this group came up, glad to see others try to get a handle on the sugar thing. I have a real problem with it, I forgo real food at times so I can have ice cream instead, not good! Starting now, middle of the day on April, 28th! Just like on BL this season, no excuses!

Day 7 so far so good
last night i was a guest at an 8 course dinner and the host went out of his way to a really nice bakery and bought this awesome chocolate cake with a chocolate coating and whipped cream on it. wanted everyone to try. I ate the whole slice of cake (and it wasn't even that great!) My old pal sugar!

Day 4 - I was out and about after work yesterday and didn't get in until 10pm. No sugar! I'm finding the hardest part is being in an office at a sit down job and all kinds of goodies to be had. Sugar really is addictive! I decided not to buy my usual candy/chocolate/sugary snacks for 30 days. It will make for less indulgance.

Elise-
That is a very good point, less is still better, even if it's not perfect. I am trying not to be too hard on myself for slipping up.

thank you coworkers at my office for bringing in hershey kisses and placing the glass jar of them out in the open for everyone and where i had to look at them. Thankfully, they were all gone by yesterday afternoon. ONLY TO BE REPLACED TODAY BY A BIG JAR OF GOOD JELLYBEANS AND ANOTHER JAR OF CHOCOLATE FOIL WRAPPED EASTER EGGS. I'm being tested!

Day 3 I really wanted the flavored vanilla creamer in my coffee rather than the fat-free milk I did have. bleh. I noticed last night that i ate way too many pretzels in my effort not to have any M&M's that are still in the house after the holiday.

Michelle - to be honest, if the effort is there, it's a win win situation. eating much less sugar is far better than eating lots of it.

Day 2 - I actually have more energy today than I do on days when I am eating so much sugar. I've read that after 24 hours of no sugar, it's much easier to go without it. I've also read if you don't buy it, you eat that much less of it. and I've also read to drink lots of water. Trying all of these things. I'm trying to make it thru one week and take it from there. If I can do it, anyone can.
Michelle. i'm going ot have that attitude as u.tomorrow I will be better with it.

I have been wanting to do a sugar detox for a while now, I think this will be a great way for me to keep accountable. Today was supposed to be my start day, and I gave in a little, but it was still a relatively healthy choice as far as treats go. I will try to be better tomorrow!

Good luck, Elsie. I just signed up on the challenge. Don't know about this. Few hours in and I am already having a craving. I had pretzels, apple, chicken noodle soup, and a sandwich round. don't think I should be wanting anything. Maybe it is because I am thinking about with the sign up and all. ha ha

I interrupted my sugar challenge, went on vacation and totally gave up...returning home I felt horrible and bloated.
Started again last week (June 14) and have been 11, today 12 days without it. Have lost 4 pounds already. It has been difficult to say NO to sugar, specially after having it in front of me (2 birthdays at the office, father's day cake), bu have had the courage and although, I still crave it as crazy sometimes, I will not give up.
My goal? to reach the 30 days w/o sugar and see if it gets better after that!

Is this challenge still going. I am on week 3 of no sugar and I am shocked it was easier that I thought it would be. I am feeling great and unaware of weight loss but I am going to give it another month until I weigh in. Id love to find others that I have given up sugar since its been such a big thing in my life. I feel really good. Ann

I am starting today, because after a 2 week vacation I gained 4 pounds by eating cupcakes and sweets every single day! I'm a sugar addict and have realized that if I leave it for a while I calm down my craves...as soon as I start, it's all over.

I am definately up for the challenge. I have given up sugar for past 7 days and don't miss it. A little tired though expect this to pass. Shows what refined sugar does in your body.

Is Sugar A Drug? People who are afraid to give up sugar won't admit that sugar is a drug. It acts like a drug in the system and causes numerous health problems that eventually lead to death. Candida, Cancer, ADHD, bipolar, hypoglycemia, alcoholism, depression, heart disease, and obesity, diabetes (which can result in coma, amputation, dialysis and death), and sugar makes you fat. Also explains why you have cravings.
Change your diet to low glycemic foods. Are you up for the challenge.

I'm so sorry...in order to stop craving sugar, one must give up refined sugars and also simple carbs such as white flour products and pasta. No, do not delete fruits from your diet, these are good for you. There are a lot of unnecessary added sugars in foods, especially jam, juice and breakfast cereals. Read the labels and eat foods with No Addded Sugar, you'll gain knowledge and see a difference in weight loss and your general well-being. It takes about three weeks to stop cravings. Your health will improve.
