Has anyone tried frozen cool whip? I'm told it's a great substitute for ice cream, but I'm not sure I'm believing it.

Right on! Ice cream is my weakness, and so far nothing helps the cravings for it. Good for you for experimenting!! emoticon

I too love ice cream. I keep it out of the house as much as I can. I have it as my treat when I go out.

I was on a smoothie kick for a while and I loved them. They did remind me of IC on some mornings. I think I will try it again.

Applesauce and other fruits added. Interesting. Seems like a duh moment for me but I hadn't ever thought of it. Thanks for adding that in to your post.

Ice Cream is my favourite too!! I can't keep it in the house as it calls out to me to eat it.. I keep it for hot summer day treats only.

I too make fruit smoothies and if I really want a thick mixture, I'll add frozen berries of any kind, works like a charm for me and I'll use stevia for sweetner if the berries are too tart.

emoticon We can do this. The smoothies are so good and do not have the fat that real ice cream has. You do not have to give IC up for good--just eat it less frequently. emoticon

Since I was a child (about 100 years ago) I always loved ice cream. As an adult it has been a comfort food, a celebratory food, a reward etc. But something has happened during my journey to become healthy. I found that there is more to life than ice cream -how can that be?. I have used fruit as a substitute by freezing, creaming, making pops, etc. - experimenting - which has resulting in a change in me. I now get the same satisfaction from a banana smoothie as I did from ice cream. Yah! I've also come to love applesauce with various other fruits added. See I teach an old dog new tricks. Rose
