Ask your friends who they go to and trust them. It'll be ok.

You know, there's absolutely nothing wrong with "interviewing," for lack of a better word, the person who MIGHT get to cut your hair. Might make you feel more comfortable with them and with the situation entirely if you knew them a bit better. I'm hoping here that it's a "stranger" touching your hair, versus just anybody.
look foward to it as an adventure. Salons sometimes have books to look at for hair cut ideas. Look at it as getting a new you............Good luck.

Take some slow breaths and ask yourself Is this the end of the world? No so do not sweat it. I hope this helps. It does for me.

While I don't have anxiety about my hair like you, I do have terrible anxiety when it comes to dentists. I have to get my wisdom teeth removed soon. Luckily the surgeon is going to give me general anesthesia. However I'm still freaking out about it. I really hate people messing around in my mouth. For me there's really nothing I can do about it except do some deep breathing/meditation before I go to a dentist. It might be too late for this, but another thing you can do is research. Look up customer reviews, and go to higher end salons. It will be more expensive, but they usually hire people with more experience. Also, TALK to them. Don't be afraid to tell them exactly what you want, and if you're not happy about something when they're done, TELL them. They might be able to do something that you'll like better.

This is going to sound really really silly but last night I chopped off a good three inches of my hair and made a huge mistake in the back. I'm used to cutting my own hair and usually don't mess up, but I did, so now I have to go get it fixed today in like half an hour. I have ridiculous anxiety about paying other people to cut my hair (most of my experiences with hair salons have been very bad) and about tipping people to do something I'm paying them to do anyway and about strangers touching my head.
Does anyone have any tips to quell this anxiety? I am SO NERVOUS!
