Hi,

Even though you have received medical clearance from your doctor, it may not be a bad idea to have a couple of sessions with a certified personal trainer who can do a full fitness evaluation on you and base a program that will not exaccerbate your situation.

I wish you well!

In that case, I'd stick with the same exercises; yeah, it's a pain that you won't be getting stronger in one arm, but I think balance is more important than worrying about that. Focus on healing and getting stronger, and you'll catch up in good time. :)

Already had the arm looked over a few weeks ago and got the ok to do exercises "As long as its comfortable". Its more that one arm has a much lower threshold for "No" than the other arm.

I would say that if you have an injury, you need to stop attempting to strength train. Talk to your doctor about the appropriate course of action. I personally would not recommend continuing to train when such a considerable imbalance is going on.

So, because I'm having injury issues with my dominant shoulder, I was wondering what, if anything, I can do with arm strength training. Don't get me wrong, I stop whenever injury side says stop, but then I feel the other side hasn't even got warmed up. I like swimming and have been gradually increasing the distance swum but I feel like this is not even worth it for the other side. I am seeing my doctor tomorrow and plan on begging for physical therapy and will stick to that, but am still wondering...

Is it okay to use some of the gym machines with different weights for each arm, or am I just asking for a horrendous imbalance simply considering it?
