You can easily make rice milk, too. Just blend rice with water!

I like to make hummus in mine and scoop what I can into a Tupperware container. Then I add broth (veggie, chicken, beef, etc.), carrots, celery, peppers (and any leftover cooked veggies), cilantro, cumin, etc. blend until heated through and toss in some corn tortilla or tortilla chips to make Instant Tortilla Soup!

I’m on my third Vita-Mix in nearly 30 years because it’s used almost every day. The cookbook included with the Vita-Mix has great ideas, but many recipes aren’t as healthy as I like. It’s easy to substitute better choices. I make quick hot soup to pack for lunches. Chop veggies and add eggs for omelets. It makes great whole grain dough and pancakes. Salad dressing and salsa is much tastier than anything in the supermarket. Chop fresh cauliflower to the size of rice. Use it in stir fries and fried rice and it’s hard to tell it’s not rice (less calories so you can eat more!) I make ice cream using skim milk and fresh fruit. It’s not Ben and Jerry’s, but it’s good. Put it in ½ cup freezer containers because its rock hard and needs to thaw a bit before you can eat it. A great fake ice cream is 2 frozen bananas, 2 TBSP water (almond milk, skim milk or whatever you like) and add a chunk of dark chocolate and maybe some nuts. Mix until its soft serve ice cream (freeze the rest). When I make fruit smoothies, I freeze some in ice cube trays to use as ice in the next smoothies. One flavor of smoothie with a different ice flavor is great. If you’re craving boxed chocolate candy, mix 8 oz skim milk, 1 TBSP Hershey’s Baking Cocoa (brown box in baking aisle), 1 TBSP Splenda (or other sweetener) 1/8 tsp vanilla extract and ¼ tsp (or more) of the extract of your choice (peppermint, orange). Blend until mixed or hot. These ideas should get you started. Google Vita-Mix for recipes from other sites. Here's the link to the Vita-Mix site with recipes that may not be in your cookbook. Once you start using your Vita-Mix you'll get a lot of ideas.

My new Vitamix was just delivered... Does anyone make anything in it that they really like... I don't want smoothies all the time..... Something for breakfast or a hot soup would be nice... Looking for something "outside the box". Hahhahaha
