It has been MY experience that lingere is for the woman's sense of sexiness (Men are unable to think in those terms).

My GF will ask me about sexy VS stuff in catalogs and I always say, "I wonder what it'd look like on the floor?"

Depends on my mood:
Nude is my first choice, I always did like the classic baseball button down shirt look with white ankle socks, and if I'm in a particularly "naughty" mood then I'd like to see her in.........
