Re-gained confidence in my body! The creaky knee is abit less creaky and I'm still able to put one foot in front of another!
Re-gained some of my lost energy...I've been fighting a non-working thyroid since baby #2 and low energy is a side effect, excercise has helped increase my energy!
I have gotten smaller and cuter clothes!
I've worn out some sneakers
I've made new friends...

I've gained lower blood pressure, the ability to walk/jog 5Ks (working towards a 10K), & improved attitude (I CAN do it).

One of the gals in charge of running the contest told me about SparkPeople, but as far as I know, I was the only one who used it for the challenge. I'm so glad she told me about it, I was thinking of going back on weight watchers but really couldn't afford it. I like SparkPeople a lot better!
It was (unfortunately) a bit more of a go-it-alone kind of contest. I can understand that it would be hard to get something to fit everyone's schedule, though I wish there had been more group things going on.
There were some drawings for donated 'prizes' from various businesses, some free passes to gyms, even a free 6" sub from the local Subway. In the end we had a potluck with a 'bring your favorite healthy food' theme and first, second and third place cash prizes. (I'm saving my prize for buying new clothes in a few more months)
ELENGIL: Wow--you have gained some wonderful things on your weight loss journey. Thanks for sharing that it is more than just about loosing the weight but rather what we gain to keep for the rest of our lives after we have started on our journey.
And, congratulations on winning second place at work on your biggest loser challenge. If more work places had these kinds of challenges then we would all be better off health wise!
Tell me more about how they set up the challenge and how many of your co-workers participated. Did you all use SparkPeople as part of your challenge?

My initial motivation was the biggest loser challenge that we held at my work. So what I gained was second place and a nice little sum of a cash prize!
But obviously that's over with, and what I've gained for keeps is my daily walks, greater energy, a better feeling about myself, and a positive outlook for the remainder of my journey - both in weight loss and in life!
We are all here for similar reasons. Some people are here to loose weight, to start a healthy lifestyle filled with nutritious foods and exercise and some are here to find support or guidance on their journey.
