Thanks everyone. Ya'll made me feel a TON better. I will refrain from getting on the scale again until weight/ measurement day (Sunday), and maybe I'll work a little extra hard this week to make up for it.

I am always heavier on the scale 2 days after having some drinks. And then the next day it will be gone.

Alcohol and extra sodium can both increase water/fluid weight gain.
Your weight will return to a "true reading" in about 3-4 days.

For me, alcohol always results in a temporary increase on the scale, even if I was within my calorie ranges. Beer is the worst culprit. It generally takes 2-3 days for it to "go away". So, don't freak out, and enjoy your Vegas trip. Just be sure to drink plenty of water.

I've been doing so well the last several months watching what I eat and working out, and at long last I can see the results of my hard work. So, I was HUGELY deflated yesterday when I got on the scale to see a 4 pound increase. Granted, it was evening time and I normally see an increase in the number, by generally 2 pounds, but not normally 4 and it has me wondering if it was the alcohol I had over the weekend.

I am not a drinker. It's a rare occasion when I do, but I am going to Vegas next week and my friend brought over some beers and whiskey to have a pre-Vegas weekend. I had 2 beers and 2 shots and counted them in my daily intake. They put me a little bit over my goal for the day, but I wasn't too concerned because I am almost never over so one day isn't going to undo everything. Or did it???

I know the body metabolizes alcohol first which means it can't metabolize anything else, but I really thought 2 days later, I would be fine. I am not normally a slave to the scale, I get on it once maybe twice a week just to keep myself in check, but I don't normally see a 4 pound gain. I know it seems a bit obsessive, but I have worked soooooo hard and now I am terrified to weigh in this weekend fearing I will see a gain. The other fear is my trip to Vegas. I hadn't planned to be stinking drunk the whole week, but it's my best friends first time going and there's a group of 14 others going as well. Obviously, I had planned to have a few drinks, but now I am terrified to do that.

Anyone have any great words of wisdom here?
