I have a betty crocker that I got when I married, it is still the main stay in my kitchen and many of the recipes are family favorites. I always go through and exchange what I can while maintaining good flavor. It is also full of lowfat, reduced calorie ideas that are tried and tested. Love my recipe book.

I've found a lot of good recipes in the Biggest Loser Family Cookbook. I like it because they are simple and don't call for ingredients that are hard to find or expensive. I've also gotten some use from the Sneaky Chef cookbooks because my kids hate veggies. I didn't really use her recipes, but I kind of adapted them to things my kids will eat.

Woman's Home Companion Cookbook. It's an edition from WWII when people were rationing the amount of butter and sugar they ate. I cut out many of the buttered crumbs and lighten up the cheese sauces with lower fat dairy as best I can, but they've got great cake recipes that I just don't mess with.

okay thanx. I usually won't substitute fat and oil cuz I don't think they're as unhealthy as ppl think. But if it calls for loads of cheese or mayo then I might cut down. I'll use low fat yoghurt or sourcream instead of tons of mayo.

I don't even look at cookbooks any more. I either wing it and experiment, or I pull a recipe off the internet.

Good luck. I taught middle school students with autism for 3 1/2 years and my oldest daughter (almost 23 now!) has an autism disorder. When they get it in their heads they don't like something, nothing will change it. Good luck with the eating!

My favorite family cookbook is my Betty Crocker Cookbook and one our church put together about 30 years ago. Both are well worn and you can definitely tell they are my favorites! I collect cookbooks and have several that my mother gave me from when she married my father, plus I inherited some from both grandmothers that are very much older than I am. The recipes in them are SOOOOO not healthy, but some are SOOOOOO good! Lately I have been trying to make some of our favorite recipes in those books healthier by substituting sugar, cutting down on the butter/oils and other such tricks. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. But I will keep trying!

Have you tried the Weight Watchers cook books? They have really tasty meals in there and they are relatively easy. It's easy for me to get my family involved in the healthy eating lifestyle because my husband is happy to eat anything...and I have a 2 year old and 6 month old so they don't mind either way! I hope you find something that you like in the Weight Watchers books!
