I agree about water. Even walking around the perimeter as far as you comfortably can is good.
I recently bought a treadmill and I love it. I set up a TV program on the computer (I'm currently rewatching all 7 seasons of The West Wing.), put on the headphones, and off I go.

Water aerobics are fun as well as easy on the joints. Water walking/jogging is another great alternative.

Sounds like the water aerobics class would be a good idea. There are also exercises you can do sitting in a chair. It is great that you are moving around, it keeps you young. Good luck to you.

I sure am trying to get this thing down but it is not easy. I have been doing good on eating things I should but exercise (not so good). I live in North Florida, in between Gainesville and Lake City. about 1 hour from the Ga. state line.

I, too, am trying to get fit again after years of so little activity due to ms issues. I am by far the strongest i've been in at least 15 years. I never know when I might need to curtail activity,but it is such a joy to have all this activity in my life again.

I, too, really enjoy Leslie Sansone's DVDs. Her "Five Really Big Miles" is my current favorite but they're all worthwhile, in my book!

Walking has been my lifesaver....I walk outside when the weather is nice and do Leslie Sansome "Walk off the Pounds" DVD in my home when its too hot or too cold....I love her "4 fast miles"...low impact and takes 48 minutes....burns about 425 calories. This old fat girl can really walk now!

CraftyGram - I'm glad it keeps getting better!
Do you wear a pedometer? If not, you might find it eye-opening to do so (they don't have to be expensive!) and track your actual mileage. It's rather fun to see those numbers mount up during the course of the day :)
I really don't have any motivation....other than the fact that I would lose more weight if I did something instead....I sit here getting skinny fingers by typing on my computer!! My knees are sore, but not much of a problem as long as I don't try to climb stairs or up into a high car doorway... It's not good and I should be better at it...when I was a kid we lived in a third floor apartment and I had to climb all those stairs constantly. Never even noticed them.
I need someone with a whip!! (Oh, how kinky!!)

I am 71 and am not one that is interested in exercise but I know I need to do it. I really need the motivation to do the exercises here, how do you get your motivation?
That's a great way to get in your exercise...think that at 78 I'm a bit too old to do that!! And, living here in Southern Florida, I don't go out walking in the sun too much, either. Just live an air-conditioned life here... got to do my leg exercises... somehow it's not the first thing I think of every morning and it should be....well, maybe the second thing!!

I am 65 years old and getting fit after sitting on my rear end all of my life has been interesting. I am a floor associate at Wal Mart now and I put in about 5-6 miles a day on the floor. I come home at night totally drained but it is a good feeling. It just gets better
