Nutella is made from hazelnuts (filberts) so the product IS tree nuts.
I think if you leave chia seeds or flax seeds soaking in water they create a gel. It could probably be used as a thickener but I would just leave it out and see how the recipe turns out. In most recipes peanut butter is used more so for flavor than a thickening agent. What is the recipe?
