If it says 4 servings that means that from whatever you cook there will be 4 meals-- 4 separate ones for you, or 2 if you and someone else eat together, etc. If you only want to cook it for 2 people no leftovers, you would cut the amounts of the recipe in half- like instead of one lb of meat you would use half a pound, instead of a teaspoon of salt you would use 1/2 a teaspoon, etc...some receipe sites you can put the number of servings in and it automatically recalculates the amount of stuff in the recipe. I hope this is what you meant by your question- dont mean to be simplistic.

 GRAMMYMEL Posts: 84 8/6/12 8:58 P I like recipes thast give a measurement such as one serving is 1/2 cup. I also like the 4 serving secipes because like Texgranny said its easy to divide. I do not like the ones that say 1 8th of arecipe or 1 16th because there are only two of us and I do nt want to seperae it all out and store the individul servings. Als when I have all my family over I can easily measure out my potion.
 TEXGRANNY Posts: 22 8/6/12 12:34 P First thing to know is what your daily calorie *budget* is...1200,1400,1800,etc. I usually have a 300 calorie breakfast, 400 calorie lunch & 400 calorie dinner. That leaves room for 2 snacks of about 150 calories or less on a 1400 calorie plan. When making a recipe, I prefer the ones with 4 servings listed since it is just my husband & myself in our household. This gives me one meal for 2 and then I either freeze or refrigerate the other 2 servings for a later meal. I like using the 4 serving recipes because it is easy to divide it into 4 equal portions. If you have enough room in your calorie and nutrition intake for 2 servings, you can have 2 servings, or if you only have enough room in your nutrition intake for 1 serving, then you have 1 serving.
