Try a fruit fast. Eat fresh fruit and drink water and tea.

You have been given some excellent advice and encouragement already. My biggest thing is when I fall off the healthy "diet" one day just make it that one day. Don't start un unhealthy trend.

Welcome to new members:: 1st I do not use the word diet in any of my postings. Never liked that word. What I do to help myself on meals.I fix 6 small portions, have a snack in between, {have a fruit or crackers) and then wait for my next meal. That is why I have small portions and very seldom feel hungry between meals.....I have to watch what I eat, b/c I am diabetic

Becky-- Everyone falls off the track and try to get back on. Just try harder and maybe plan your meals ahead of times. Sometimes I will make too much, so I will freeze it and have it for another meal already. I used to cook for 4, 3, 2 and 1. But I always cooked too much and if I did not feel like cooking; I'd have meals to reheat. (but I love to cook)

New to sparkpeople...just 4 days. Hoping to take advantage of recipes. I like to try new foods/recipes, so this should be a great place to start!

Becky, don't worry about if you get off track. It is not if, but when. Don't let fear of that hold you back. When you get off track, get back on track, right away. Just so I don't find myself go off track mindlessly, I plan my off track times. For example: I knew I was having one of my favorite meals last night: spaghetti and sausage, salad, bread. I planned to have it all and then to add it up. So that it would not be too crazy, I skipped the wine. It was all part of the plan, nothing took me by surprise. In order to participate in that meal, I was frugal with my calories all day. I ate a lot of fruit to help me feel full during the day.

Thank you for all your advice and support. I have never tried dieting before because of the fear of being hungry or feeling hungry. I am realizing slowly that eating when I am bored has been my biggest issue and downfall. I have started off slowly with the spark goals, the water goal and exercising three times a week. I feel a little more energized, but I am worried about if I happen to get off track ? I have also been realizing, that it is helping me to log on to this site everyday just to keep myself motivated. Being in college does not really help either, busy and stressed a lot! Hopefully I will be able to stay on track and meet my goals. Thanks again for all of the advice!

Welcome. I have been here since the beginning of January. It is very helpful to become aware of everything I put into my mouth! You are receiving some good advice here and I agree that taking it slowly is a good idea. Make one small change at a time. When you have success with that, make another small change. That way you won't feel too hungry and you set achievable small goals. Best wishes for success.

Start slowly, don't expect miracles. Make small changes at a time unless your health depends on it. Don't go cold turkey.

Welcome!! :) While I have only been a member for 6 days I am on here all the time!! I can't believe how many great recipes I found and how easy the tracker is to use. It really has kept me honest about what I eat - and I actually found myself not snacking last night while I watched TV because I didn't want to track it lol. :-)

hi guys just wanted to introduce myself. I am new to the dieting world. I am 27 newly married and looking to get in shape before we start having kids. I lost a baby last year and since have decided to get in shape before we try again. Always been overweight and my biggest fear about dieting is feeling hungry all the time. Ive slowly began an exercise routine and would like any tips and support as possible! Thanks! emoticon
