To actually gain a lb of fat, you need to eat 3500 calories... OVER your usual intake! So one day of overeating shouldn't sabotage your weight loss efforts. It's your intake over a week that determines fat loss (or gain) -- not what you eat in one day.

I'd suggest asking these questions over in nutrition, too. You're more likely to get advice from an expert there. :)

I have a headcold and I feel pretty miserable however I'm trying to lose weight and today I was continuously hungry, my tummy was like a bottomless pit that couldn't be satisfied. I was feeling to ill to go to the gym so I didnt exercise. I'd say I ate about 2500 calories :( Will this make me gain much weight? or do you need extra calories when you are under the weather because I genuinely never felt satisfied today. Also, I probably won't go to the gym for a few days....what effect will this have on my body? Will my fitness level reduce? I know these questions might seem stupid but I'm new to sparkpeople.
