I am taking it slow and steady as well. This is a permanent life change for me that won't happen easily or overnight. I'm going to make mistakes and I'll get back on the wagon the next day. I'm actually finding I'm enjoying learning the best ways to eat so I can still enjoy food and not feel guilty about it. It's also fun to reach new milestones in exercising. Adventure is a great way to describe this! :)
Sounds like you have a very smart and caring doctor on your side. Keep his words in mind as you journey to better health. Thanks for sharing his wisdom with the rest of us journeying as well.

Yesterday my doctor reminded me that it took years to get this heavy. He asked me why I thought it should take weeks to lose it. He reminded me that a diet is where we constantly obsess about our weight, a lifestyle change is where we enjoy the journey and the results of the changes are the icing on the cake. He told me to enjoy every change, to sit back and relax. He said there will be more than just weight loss and better health to enjoy...there will be new foods, new friends, better skin, nicer hair, more energy, better sleep, new adventures like fitting into a booth, or a seat on a ride....so much much more than what the scale says......he said kick back and enjoy the WHOLE journey because its a trip that will never end like a diet would....so there will be a whole lifetime of new things to look forward to in this journey! Keep my eyes and my mind open all the way on this adventure....not just focussed on my weight!
