I just do water so that I can regulate my own sodium. You could make it with vegetable stock. I figure this way: vegetable stock is just veggies cooked in water (with lots of added sodium) The veggies you use will flavor the water. Here is what I put in: onions, leeks, celery, carrots, white cabbage, green beans. Then, if I want a little thickness I add white beans and/or ditalini or other small pasta.
