I have been a member for 4 months now and am still trying to figure out all this site has to offer. It has so much to offer and the members are great. So just go to the start page and follow the directions to get started. It will walk you though the basic stuff. Then just keep checking things out as you get more familiar with each element and you'll eventually feel more comfortable with the site and all there is. But first and most important, put your information in and the goal you are striving for and then start measuring and tracking your intake. Then start adding in some light cardio and Strength Training. Not too much, just enough to get started and to start conditioning your body and mind to increase when needed and to continue on for life. Remember, this is a lifestyle of healthy choices and fitness, not a fad diet. Keep the faith.
Although, it took me a little while to figure out SparkPeople, it has become a wonderful tool for me in my journey, my advice would be to use it to your full advantage, read as many exercise and nutrition articles as you can and the motivational pages are great too.
I myself, bought the SparkPeople 28 day bootcamp DVD and I have used it everyday and LOVE IT!!! My kids try to follow along with me and it can get pretty hilarious seeing as my youngest is about to turn 2. She does pretty well though.

It also helped me when I made my Sparkpage. I started getting motivation from alot of people who eventually became my SparkFriends. The blogs are great too.
If you are wondering how to begin your weight loss journey, I recommend you take a look at the "spark diet" page under the "Healthy Lifestyle" tab. Spark Points can give you a few simple tasks to do to start working toward a healthier lifestyle. The message boards are a good place to meet people and put a team together of people who can help you stay motivated. You can check out SparkTeams and get some ideas of a place to start.
The most important thing to do is just dig in and find what works for you. Personally, tracking my nutrition and fitness goals and using spark streaks work for me. There are tools here for nearly anyone. Jump on in!
