Getting Healthy!
I'm a 54 year old, mother of 6 grown kids. Over the years, I've gradually added on the pounds. For several years now, I just can't stomach seeing pictures of myself. So, in January 2012, I decided I wanted this bad enough and that I could do it! My DH has said many times that he needed to lose weight, but, let's face it, I have to do the prep work (menus, shopping, cooking, etc) and he just has to eat less! My Program:
My husband and I have been following the Dash Diet since January 2012. I stopped drinking sodas; I've cut down on sodium. I've had high BP for over 30 years now, so not sure if the Dash will eliminate the need for medication for that. But healthy eating is definitely a worthwhile pursuit.
Personal Information:
Spouse retired from the Air Force; have lived many places; enjoy traveling! Out of 6 kids, 2 are active duty military. When they deploy overseas, it's miserable! It's always such a relief when they come back home! Have 3 grandkids -- 2 out of town and 1 in town. They are why we need to stay young!
