The name says it all!

I'm 26 years old. I work full-time, I am a proud mom. I'm also 110 pounds overweight.

How did I let myself get to that point? I suppose I will blame it on my love of fast food :) Also my love of living a sedentary life. Yet, after getting on a scale and seeing me at 285, and how close I was to 300 lbs, I knew I had to make a change. I suffered from pinched nerves a lot, getting out of breath easily, amongst other health issues I attributed to my weight. I took a full body picture ...

Yet, after getting on a scale and seeing me at 285, and how close I was to 300 lbs, I knew I had to make a change. I suffered from pinched nerves a lot, getting out of breath easily, amongst other health issues I attributed to my weight. I took a full body picture of myself, and I cannot believe how blind I was. I always thought I looked good considering I am 5'11, but then in the pictures I could see the weight gain. I decided then and there, for my son and myself and my boyfriend, I would do what needed to be done to be the healthiest me I could be.

And here I am, on my weight loss journey. It's not going to be easy, of this I know. There is no miracle cure, to shed the pounds off super quickly. It is going to take dedication, motivation, and a positive mindset.

I know I can do this! :)

hi there,
Welcome to SP.
I saw your post on the boards about difficulty in getting started with your exercise and I thought I'd share my experience with you. I was a lazy couch potato until I joined SP. On day 1 my pedometer registered just 500 steps, my knees and back ached whenever I moved. I did as you have done and asked for advice and was advised to take baby steps, adding 500 steps as and when I felt able. Much to my great surprise and delight, I found myself walking 3 miles a day (8100 steps) WITHIN 3 WEEKS, all aches having vanished. It STILL amazes me!!

Why not begin by walking? I mainly clock up my steps by walking in my home and, weather permitting, my garden. It takes me 52 minutes to walk a total of 8000 steps so in the beginning I had to break this up into 10 minute sessions.(now it is 2 sessions) If you google 'Walk Away the pounds 3 miles' you'll have a choice of 2 or 3 Leslie Sansone videos which you can put in your browser. I like the one where the team are wearing résistance bands and I do those steps in my workout, so that I walk, walk on the spot, run at 2 speeds on the spot, side-step, marching etc I lost 30 pounds doing this, rather vigorously :), daily and tracking my food carefully and scrupulously.

I hope this will encourage you to take baby steps with confidence.

hugs,

Mia ( sorry, no emoticons)
