I am Back! Looking at Realistic Goals

As you can tell by my user name I am a proud Grandmother who is known as Nana. I work full time in IT and am planning to retire in approximately 1.5 years.

I lost over 50 pounds between April 17, 2011 and December 1, 2011. Right after I did a good job of maintaining my weight. Over the past year I have gained over 20 pounds. I have progressively lost the ability to walk properly. My left hip has degenerative arthritis and will be replaced on March 17th. So, it is my goal to ...
As you can tell by my user name I am a proud Grandmother who is known as Nana. I work full time in IT and am planning to retire in approximately 1.5 years.

I lost over 50 pounds between April 17, 2011 and December 1, 2011. Right after I did a good job of maintaining my weight. Over the past year I have gained over 20 pounds. I have progressively lost the ability to walk properly. My left hip has degenerative arthritis and will be replaced on March 17th. So, it is my goal to loose 15 pounds before I have my surgery. This should help in my recovery. Once I am able to get back to walking I will then loose the remaining 15 pounds. If I can get motivated enough I would like to drop 10 more pounds for a total of 40 pounds.

My first goal is the one I want to attain by March 17th. I will reset my goal after I am walking properly once again.

My Program:
Eating 1200-1400 calories per day.

Eating mainly non processed foods. I am going to do simple menus, with lots of lean meats, vegetables, fruits, dairy and very little breads or other starches.

Drinking 8 glasses of water per day.

Currently I am not able to do much exercise including walking, so calorie counting will need to be my best friend.

Personal Information:
I live in Northern California. I have been divorced for a long time. I love to travel, cook, read and garden. When I retire I plan to do a lot of the above. I have two grown sons who are doing me proud.

Funny I was looking at all my friends on Spark the other day and was thinking about the ones I haven't seen for awhile and there you were! I have been bust trying to stay WARM! This winter has got to stop soon non stop snow and cold I want my GARDEN!

Thank you for the flowers! A gym buddy came over this morning and vacuumed the carpet, swept the kitchen and even the front walk for me. I felt like a slug sitting here watching her.

You're welcome! I had a lot of people say I had sciatica but the spine specialist who ordered the MRI showed me where my spine was twisted (from arthritis) and said any pain from that would be on the right side. At that time I told him most of the pain I felt felt muscular from being pulled out of place. As for the hip pain-it just kept hurting more and more around that joint especially with exercising-squats and lungest especially. Now I can actually feel the bone grinding if I sit wrong. I would recommend massage to try to relieve yours but it would need to be a really good massage.
