Not quite panthers, but on the prowl nonetheless...
Yes, I do mean YOU!!
It's all about the attitude!

“If ever there is tomorrow when we're not together.. there is something you must always remember: you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. But the most important thing is, even if we're apart, I'll always be with you.” ~ Christopher Robin to Winnie-the-Pooh (and me, to you, my precious SparkFriend!)
I've been steadily maintaining at about 4 pounds from goal weight since last November or December. Considering that during those months I went through an incredibly stressful move with my family split apart by 1500 miles, a house that went through 4 contracts before finally closing, and a teenage son having to transfer schools 3 months before graduation, I feel pretty darn good about maintaining! Now that we're settled in our new home, though (and the house in Texas FINALLY sold AND closed), it's time to re-focus and get rid of those last stubborn few pounds!
About 8 months after beginning my SparkJourney, I'm less than 5 pounds away from my initial goal weight (that goal subject to change!) and have met one of my most important goals: I am no longer a Type 2 diabetic, and have been taken off my diabetes medication. YES!! My back is doing great (had back surgery 12/31/11), I've gone from being a couch potato to exercising for a minimum of 30 minutes (usually 60-90 minutes), 6 days or more a week, and am even beginning to do some light jogging with the goal to run a 5K next spring if not sooner. Currently, I'm challenged with a cross-country move combined with the holiday season, but my BLC team (Light Blue Bombshells ~ they da BOMB!) and SP are helping to keep me on track!
In the beginning... March, 2011:
Last fall, as I neared my 50th birthday, I was determined to regain my health and get off prescription meds. My plan was to be at my goal weight by my birthday this May, but a disc herniation and subsequent surgery set me back a few months. I'm on track again now, and have left my full-time position to stay home and work full-time on improving my health. I decided to become involved in the SP Community so that I can motivate and be motivated by others who are facing similar challenges.
I've met my initial goals of getting off diabetes medication and reaching a "healthy" BMI. Now, my goal is simply to continue to stay within my nutrition ranges and exercise for at least 30 minutes 6 days a week. As long as I'm doing that, the scale (and smaller sizes!) WILL follow!
I'm working to move towards a more plant-based diet. I track everything I eat in my Nutrition Tracker. I do a minimum of 30 minutes of cardio exercise each day, plus ST. A major part of my program is to participate actively on SP every day -- it's helped me to remain accountable and motivated!
I'm a Christian, the mother of 2 boys in college, and married to an incredible man who is "the whole package": intelligent, funny, handsome, loving...he even cooks and cleans! And no, he doesn't have a brother! :D
