6/13/13 - I am not sure WHAT happened to get off track, but that is where I find myself. I don't even know if I need to try and analyze it (probably not). I am drinking my water this morning and going to the pool after my eye doc appointment. The thought that keeps coming to my mind is: IF I WANT WHAT I HAD - I NEED TO DO WHAT I DID!
2/26/13 - good deal - I am down to 180 now for a total of 62 pounds gone! I picked up my 6th bead today and had a opportunity to share my story with the sales clerks. Inspirational thought: Whether you think you can or can't - you're right!
1/28/13 - Yippee - another 8 pounds are gone! I really like weighing in once or twice a month. I did measurements yesterday and 3.75 inches are gone as well. So, I need to shop for another bead this week *smile*...such a bother...NOT!
Thought for the month: The biggest limitations in life are the ones you make in your mind!
1/2/13 - I could hardly wait to get back to the pool and into a regular routine again! I weighed 196 today...down another 3.5 pounds.
1/1/13 - I did the White Rock 5 mile (8K) this morning. I was the last one across (who cares) with a time of 1:28:40. It was 45 degrees at start time and it warmed up to 48...DAMN! I just layered up and did it...very proud of myself!
12/15/12 - I am amazed and humbled to find myself below 200 at my weigh in this morning...199.5! Yes, I have been diligent, but it is God doing this 'new thing' in me. Yes, I know - not everyone will get that and that's ok.
Thought for the week: Life is to be experienced and enjoyed not 'managed'!
12/10/12 - YEAH...'stay the same' was just here for a week and not a long term resident! I posted a 3 pound loss today. That's 39 so far - one more pound and I get another bead!
12.1.12 - Stayed the same this week. No plans to change up anything as I see this as a normal part of healthy living. Thought for the week: Instead of thinking of fitness as a 'get up and get it over with' thing - think of it as a 'wonderful way to start the day' thing. It's part of my philosophy to change my attitude and change my life!
11.23.12 - WOOHOO! I lost 6 pounds over Thanksgiving...that's a switch for me from previous years! I have now lost 36 pounds and have my 4th bead picked out. Thought for the week: I can't change the past, but can ruin the present by worrying about the future.
11.16.12 - Down another 2 pounds...I added bead number 3 to my healthy living bracelet since it now totals 30 pounds.
11.13.12 - Happy 2 months of SPARKing to me! I have lost 4-7/8 inches over the past month. (see blog post about non-scale victories) Thought for the week: NEVER throw in the towel...use it to wipe off the sweat!
11.9.12 - Down another 3.5 pounds for a total of 28 in just about two months.
11.2.12 - I have lost 10% of my body weight...a total of 24.5 pounds so far. Thought for the week: If you refuse to put up a fence, don't be surprised to find people in your yard from time to time. (Healthy boundaries are good for all of us!)
10.27.12: The 5K walk is completed! My time - 50:003...I am pleased.
10.26.12: It's now 22 pounds that I have lost - YEAH! Hubby and I are walking a 5K tomorrow...all I can say is WOW!
10.19.12: I lost 2 pounds this week for a total of 20 now. Quote for the week: When something happens that hurts my feelings, I can be INJURED or INSPIRED. Guess what I choose? Second bead added to Healthy Living bracelet...a grapevine - gotta get in those fruits and veggies!
10.13.12: 5-1/2 inches lost over my first month. I am tracking measurements for waist, hips, thigh and upper arm here on SPARK. I have also lost some in the bust as I have to use snugger hooks now.
10.12.12: 18 pounds down now (lost 4 this week). I will do measurements tomorrow on my 1 month-iversary Thought for the week: We all go through tough times - it is up to us to decide if the tough times will be an OBSTACLE or and OPPORTUNITY. Guess what I choose?

10.5.12: A total of 14 pounds is gone for good now. I am ordering the first bead for my empty bracelet. I get a bead or charm for each 10 pounds that I lose. The first bead is filigree hearts - a reminder to love myself. Thought for the week: Whether you think you can or think you can't...you're right.
9.27.12: Down 8 pounds now. Thought for the week: Be kind to others, more importantly - be kind to yourself.
9.20.12: Down 5.5 pounds. Quote for the week: You are more likely to act yourself into feelings, than feel yourself into action!
9.13.12: UGH! Once again, I am at the highest I have ever weighed. I am not as optimistic because I am older and somewhat wiser. I have NEVER been able to keep the pounds off - why is this time going to be any different?
Let's face it...it isn't just about knowledge. I KNOW what I have been doing wrong: the wrong foods, wrong quantity of food, wrong activities. I just didn't care at the time. Oh, maybe THAT IS THE KICKER! Why didn't I care enough about myself to take better care of myself? This is something I will explore in my journal writings over the next weeks and months.
Some goals and motivations:
- each 10 pounds off = Pandora bead
- lose 24.25 pounds (10% of body weight) = $50 shopping spree
- each 25 pounds = new profile pic
- below 200 = $90 shopping spree (most likely a commemorative piece of jewelry).
- below 179.5 (25% of body weight) = $100 spree
- I want to be as slim as possible when I slide down the BIG outdoor water slide at the pool on my birthday in June!
- below 150 = $150 spree
- 142 = Diamond ring repaired
I also need to find out my cholesterol level and see if I need to lower. (Cholesterol was checked in November 2012 - it's 153 and all ratios are good.)
I am wearing an empty Pandora bracelet. I will add a bead or charm for each 10 pounds that I lose. I want beads!

My first BIG goal is to lose 10% of my body weight. (Accomplished on 11.2.12)
My second BIG goal is to get below 200 pounds.
My next BIG goal is to lose 25% of my body weight.
I also want to be as slim as possible when I slide down the big water slide on my birthday in June!
My current program:
- pool, 3 times a week (minimum), 30 - 45 minutes each session.
- walk, 3 times a week (minimum), 30 - 45 minutes each session. I am in training for the Koman 3 day / 60 miles walk in Dallas in November. My current eating plan:
- drink lots of water
- eat loads of healthy fats, fruits, veggies, non-processed meats, organic milk and milk products..as much as I want and whenever I want
- no low cal foods, artificial preservatives or colors, canola oil, msg, high fructose corn syrup, no wheat
- weigh twice a month at the most, once is ideal
- measurements once a month
- Spark throughout the day!
I grew up in Dallas, TX and have lived in Texas all of my life.
I am now about 45 miles north of Dallas in the football loving town of Celina. I go to the Frisco Athletic Center for my pool time. I do my walking at the FAC, the high school track and various places around town to change it up.
I love to quilt and be crafty! I am a member of the Dallas Modern Quilt Guild. I don't think you can ever have too much fabric!
I believe that by changing my attitude, I am changing my life.
Since I have spent a few months 'off track', I also believe that if I want what I had - I must do what I did!
