January 29, 2015 - update

25 pounds down! Half way there. Took exactly 13 months, so averaged about half a pound per week (though with plenty of ups and downs). Won't reach my original goal by my 50th birthday in less than 5 months, but that's ok. Willing to wait another year for the next 25 pounds if needed. Slow and pretty steady is really the way to go as it creates a more permanent change. Yay!

September 2014 - down 15 pounds and staying strong!

January 2014

I am a year and a half away from 50. Turning 40 felt like entering middle age which did not go over well with me (I know, should have been grateful....). Heading toward 50 feels very different - now with 8+ more years of emotional growth under my belt, it feels like it can be a fresh start, not a downhill slide. I can and will (God willing) reach my highest peak yet in the realms of physical, emotional and spiritual well being by 50 - June 22, 2015.
March 16, 2014: down 11 pounds; next goal is to lose 10 more pounds by my 49th birthday on June 22nd.

"The Spark" is my main guide including the 28 day program. Slow and steady. Non-negotiable: 10 minutes of exercise a day.

Hi,
My name is Belinda; I am on the Blue Sapphires team. I live near San Francisco in California. I am 55 years old; I work as a preschool teacher. I have been with Spark people for a few years. I had lost 120 pounds at one point, but have regained 70 pounds. My goal with this New Year is to refocus on my health and regain my balance and strength through walking. These BLC do help to keep me accountable and I appreciate that. I eat mostly Vegan because of my love for all animals, but occasionally I do have eggs or cheese. Iíve come to know I am never going to be perfect at this, but I do my best. (Unfortunately for me, Oreo cookies are vegan!) In 2014 I suffered a great deal of loss; First I lost my sweet little pug to Cancer, Then I lost my precious mother to a stroke and 3 weeks ago I lost my husband to a heart attack. I donít know what plans God has for my future, but my hope is to be as healthy as possible as I face what life still has to offer. I hope you are able to reach your goals for better health too.
