Christie's journey

My name is Christie. I am 46. I have one son who is seven-years-old. He is my blessing as it took eight years to get pregnant. In January 0f 2012, we were blessed with my "surprise" baby, Madeline Rose.

I am finally committed to get fit and healthy so that I can be a role model to my children. No more excuses.

I am also going to focus on healthy eating for me and my family.

I hope that my weight loss/healthy lifestyle journey motivates you as well.

Step #2: Drink water

Step #3: Exercise

Short term goals:

1) Drinking 8 glasses of water each day.

2) Eating fruit daily.

3) Tracking my food daily.

Other Information:
Heading toward a goal of size 8, but really want to be a size 6.

Fun information:

Christie,
To load photos to a team, they have made it simple, at the wall post place, there is an button for add photo - do that instead of typing in something int he larger box. You can add a comment after you press that button.

Christie, Yup, you have learned lesson one of BMR. There are different formulas and they do give slightly different answers. Sparkpeople uses a BMR also but for many people that one can be high as I think they add in your activity level and people who work at a desk don't run that high.

You can pick one that feels right for you and use it for a few weeks and see how it does. That is what the Renegades did if they didn't know the number that works for them.

Also, some people add in their activity level which I think seems to work better if you physically chase after toddlers all day long, but doesn't work for people who sit at a desk all day long. It is that calculation that says if you are active add this much, if you are very active add in this much, etc.

So just choose one and start using the CICO (top of the tracker), and see how it works.

Note: If you use some other tracker that calculates calorie deficit already, you can just once a week enter your weekly calorie deficit in the Team Goals in row 3. Or you can put in the total Calories eaten and Calories burned with exercise into the CICO in one day (e.g. Tues) and see what it tells you for the week total.
If you use the CICO fields at the top it will copy the Calorie Deficit down into Row 3 of the Weeklong Challenge.

Hi Christy,
I'm not on Spark very often...but did see your comment. I know in AZ it is very hard to qualify students for Speech and Language services. It breaks my heart to hear older children with sound substitutions that "didn't interfere with academic learning" so these children don't qualify, nor did the sounds 'self' correct. What about self esteem? Guess a child as a teenager has to be made fun of with w/r, th/s, or lateral lisp (these seem to be most common). Hope you were able to come up the 'language' to proved services.
Hugs,
Jo Ann

I live in Milwaukee WI, right near lake Michigan right down the road not even a mile away (lake effect snow). My grandma and grandpa built the house and lived here as a kid. I used to live in Westerly RI, but that was only for a year. Within the next year, we will be in NC with DH starting bible college.
