5KGRANNY

Hi, all. I've been a Sparker since April '08 and I've reached my goal. Wow!! Time has gone by quickly! I'm finding that the maintaining aspect is harder than the losing. So many temptations because --hey -- I'm where I need to be. Unfortunately, it's so easy to fall off the wagon and put the pounds back on. There ought to be another term for maintaining that sounds more motivating. Maintenance sort of sounds like what you have to do for something that's old and about to fall apart. ...

Hmmmm.... maybe that is accurate.

Anyway, I'm now 60 and plan to be around for a long time. I didn't make my goal to have a 6-pack by the time I turned 60. Do you think I could get one by the time I'm 70?

My Goals:
I am at my goal weight of 120 and am trying to maintain it. I would also like to help my husband get his weight under control as he has cholesterol issues. I have eliminated soda pop from my diet completely. I used to drink 2-3 cans a day. Now I would just like to firm everything up .

My Program:
I'm not really watching calories any more. I eat 3 servings of fruit, 5 servings of veggies and 3 servings of whole grains every day. I also eat at least 21 g of fiber every day and try to keep my sodium intake under 2300 mg. I'm having trouble with drinking water. Right now I'm striving for 6 glasses. By the time I get all that in i'm pretty full.

I try to work out at least 30 minutes daily. I am focusing on my pelvic floor every other day as I have issues in that area. Weekends my husband and I usually play tennis for an hour if possible. I also walk 20 min. on breaks at work.

Personal Information:
My husband and I live in Oregon north of Bend. We have 3 grown kids and 5 grandkids ranging from a 7 to 21 (3 girls and 2 boys). I'm an office manager at a domestic water utility. I like to play golf, tennis, and swim. (Not particulary good at any of them, but have fun trying)

Other Information:
I love to read and love a variety of authors from Dean Koontz to Janet Evanovich and lots in between. I love movies but can't get my husband to go. Love live theater productions too.

It was so great to hear from you. We are all doing well and keeping so busy. Hunter has a crazy year going on with a lot of up and downs with getting adjusted to the new school. Pre-K let him do whatever he wanted in the classroom and when he started Kindergarden that didn't work out too well for him. Felicia is doing great in school and is still dancing. She has moved up another level and gets do a lot of community performances which is the part she loves the most. I have major foot issues and after a year of doctor visits we are still no where. However after 12 weeks of PT, I have more movement so I have been taking advantage. I can now walk 1.5 miles instead of just a block. I am back to losing instead of gaining and feeling great about myself once again.

How is Jameson doing these days? I think of you and him from time to time. I didn't realize the Sheriffs were done but I may throw my name in the hat in the next round or two :)

“Whenever you make a mistake or get knocked down by life, don't look back at it too long. Mistakes are life's way of teaching you. Your capacity for occasional blunders is inseparable from your capacity to reach your goals. No one wins them all, and your failures, when they happen, are just part of your growth. Shake off your blunders. How will you know your limits without an occasional failure? Never quit. Your turn will come.”

Thanks for the goodie! Things are slowing down here finally. I am all signed up for next round and hopefully will be a Honey Badger again.
