MOTIVATION!

How many people out there really and truly like change? I don't think too many do. I know I tend to be a creature of habit and unfortunately over the last 30 years or so, those habits have become detrimental to my health and well-being. No, I'm not a drug addict or alcoholic, but I do think I am a food-a-holic. I admit it, I like to eat and not necessarily the healthiest foods around. I know I tend to be a creature of habit and unfortunately over the last 30 years or so, those habits have become detrimental to my health and well-being. No, I'm not a drug addict or alcoholic, but I do think I am a food-a-holic. I admit it, I like to eat and not necessarily the healthiest foods around. I like sweets and junk (think fatty foods and chips). Since January 2015, I have sort of halfheartedly been making progress in changing those bad habits into newer good ones. Change is never easy and even harder when it means giving up something you have come to love or rely on for comfort over the years. Since July 1 is the start of the second half of the year, I decided that was a good arbitrary date to pick to start this journey yet again. I do attend weekly Weight Watchers meetings because I like the accountability and camaraderie of the group. I usually learn some new trick or tip each week also. Frankly, however, I am tired of shelling out money every month because I haven't been serious enough about my weight-loss to get to my goal weight and stop paying for the meetings. I sat down and added up the money I have spent on WW and could have had a really nice savings account for the amount I have spent. Once I sat down and really looked at the financial side of it, I seriously resolved that I am going to get this weight off, not allow it back and get healthier. According to my doctor, while I do have Type 2 Diabetes, I am actually in fairly good health...however, it can always be better. The things I am focusing on are getting the 100 pounds I am overweight off, getting my HbA1C into a healthy range (under 7%), and getting my triglycerides into a normal range. I am keeping a journal of foods eaten, exercise done, motivation and emotions. Oh, did I mention I'm an emotional eater? YIKES...that just adds to the weight loss journey difficulty. I will do my best, which all anyone can do, to embrace these changes and make a big difference in my life by January 2016 and beyond. Thanks for reading this far if you have!
