It's a New Day and a Brand New Me!!

Always the "FAT" friend, family member, co-worker - well no more!!! I am stripping myself of that title, I am DONE DONE DONE being that person!!!

January 31, 2013 - I have been on and off and on and off and on and off the wagon so many times, I am dizzy and sick with it!!! I am tired of my bones and joints (especially my knees and back) hurting all of the time with the stress of having to haul all of me around. I am sad that my weight has deprived me (and my kids) of having a more healthy and active lifestyle. I am ready to run, jump, skip, hop and do carwheels again and now is the time for it to happen!!!

I am still not "dieting", but instead I am focusing on healthy living. I am transitioning slowly but surely to completely clean eating. I am trying to get some type of exercise every day of the week, even if it only consists of walking up and down the stairs once or twice. Most of all I am trying to set a better example for my almost 13 year old son, who also struggles with weight issues and body image. I desperately want to be fit by my 40th birthday (and that is only 8 months away), so now is the time for the excuses to stop and for the laziness and lack of motivation to go away. I know that the results will be well worth all of the effort that they take.





Update - 04/08/12 : It has been a long, long time since I have been working on my weight and I had gained back every pound that I ever lost (plus some). I am now fully back on track and ready to get this weight off FOR GOOD. My focus at this time is not "dieting", it is a focus on healthy living. I am eating healthy, have cut out beef and pork (and most of my chicken) and I am exercising at least 5 days a week. I want to be fit by the time I am 40 (which isn't THAT far off). I am also trying to set a better example for my 12 year old son, who is currently quite a bit overweight himself. I am clinging to the promise that ALL things are possible with God, and I am leaning on Him through this whole process.

I would really like to meet more people like me so that we can offer each other encouragement on this long but important journey towards health.


Update- 10/13/2008: I have been off of the wagon for way too long now. I have gained back 13 of the pounds I lost. I have been going through some personal things that have left me feeling less than motivated; some family related things and some money issues.
I am not saying that I am going to hop right back up on that wagon and start shedding weight right and left, but I am going to start making small changes; day by day, and week by week. That is all I can do right now.


I am a single mother of 3 sons who is ready to be leaner and healthier. I am trying to change my focus from dieting to healthy living. I have been heavy for most of my life, and with the extra weight has come extra probelms such as joint pain and back pain. I am tired of it being a major undertaking just to drag my big butt around!!!
I want to get my extra weight off and get fit and healthy. My ultimate goal is to be able to run a 5K without stopping and without passing out.
I LOOOOOOOVE fresh fruits and veggies, and lean meats. I don't have any trouble eating things that are good for me, I just sometimes have trouble keeping the good-for-me foods in the house because money is so tight right now.

HOW AM I DONE??? LET ME COUNT THE WAYS..........
1. DONE with my sedentary lifestyle
2. DONE with making excuses
3. DONE with soda
4. DONE with bingeing
5. DONE with eating when I am not hungry
6. DONE being the fat sister
7. DONE being the fat friend
8. DONE being the fat daughter
9. DONE being the fat co-worker
10. DONE being the fat girl!!!

Update: I have been struggling with my eating and exercising off and on for several weeks now. My motivation left me for awhile, and I am just now getting it back.

I had to remember that I am DONE and I have been wanting to be DONE since I was about 12 years old. I cannot let my issues with emotional eating keep me from being DONE.

My Goals:
I want to work out at least 5 days a week, and get my recommended 8 glasses of water a day. I also want to move away from prepared pre-packaged foods toward fresher alternatives. I am actually phasing myself into totally clean eating. I would like to lose at least 100 pounds by this time next year (04/14) but my ultimate goal is to be able to run at least a half marathon before its all over.

My Program:
I am watching my calories, trying to consume no more than 1600 per day, while making sure that I include plenty of fresh fruits and veggies and low fat dairy. I am also trying to make sure that I get enough vitamins and other nutrients. I have switched from processed and refined flours and sugars to whole grains and brown rice.
I am trying to cut out prepackaged, processed foods completely and replace them with fresher, healthier alternatives.

Personal Information:
I have struggled with food addiction very nearly my whole life. I am an emotional eater and tend to be my own worst enemy. I have been overweight since I was a child and I am truly looking forward to shedding this weight for good.

Other Information:
I live in Southeast Georgia in the BEAUTIFUL Golden Isles and would love to locate people in my area who have similar goals and interests. I am an avid reader, I love to shop and I enjoy cooking.
