My name is Andrea, I'm 33, married, so far childless and looking to lose some extra pounds! I don't want to be a stick, but I want to be healthy, and I don't want to be plus-sized anymore. I'm aiming for an 8 as an ultimate goal, since I've never been thin enough to wear a 8, and it's a single digit, woot woot! (I'm currently in a 10, and if the 8 I wear is a pair of stretchy pants I'm totally cool with not going below a 10.) ETA June 2014 - I currently own a SIZE 8 pair of capris!!

I have a wonderful husband and a 3 year old Boston Terrier named Bingley who is like my child. (No I don't walk him in a stroller or anything, but I love him just as much as I would my own child.)

My Program:
I'm tracking my nutrition and exercise via SparkPeople, and using my FitBit to try to keep an average of 8000+ steps a day, plus intermittent strength training. New workout: kettle bells!

I was born and raised in South Jersey, just outside of Philly. I've been up and down the East Coast and abroad and I still love my state. Judge not a state by it's Turnpike. =)

Other Information:
I believe in equality for all people: men, women, whites, blacks, asians, hispanics, gays, straights, transexuals, transgenders, etc. As long as you don't try to take MY rights away or try to cram your beliefs down my throat, we're cool. =)

The ethnic markets can really save you a lot of money on certain items. We go to the Asian, Mediterranean, Mexican and Indian ones from time to time. Ther are a lot of Korean markets around too, but I don't really know anything about Korean food and haven't delved into it to learn. One of these days, though.

Oh, and yeah, when I was a retail employee, I would have been content to pretend Christmas didn't exist at all. I was Scroogette during the holidays most of those 5 years. Dealing with cranky customers all day will suck the holiday spirit right out of ya!

hi--I just read your veteran's day blog and enjoyed it so much. the facts are sobering--but hopeful in a way because at least now we are talking about the issue and trying to come to grips with it. we most certainly aren't there yet, but at least we are trying to address the needs of these noble people. I have a friend who is a vet. ex marine--served in Vietnam as a flight tech. when the helicopters flew in to rescue people in the midst of battle, he was on board. his sons are all marines too--and they have all dealt with the demons. he is the salt of the earth and I would trust him with my life (how many people can you say that about and KNOW its true?).
I also really understand your constant search for creativity. I got a sketchbook and began drawing last week. a small drawing every day or so is my goal. I actually painted a little bit last week too (finally!)
when you live in a creative head you have to make things. I don't have one of those effervescent minds--but I have to use my hands--feel them working and know they are bringing something into being. I am more of a journeyman than a pure artist. a book I think you would really enjoy is one I just finished "the secret lives of the impressionists" by sue roe. it traces the impressionist movement by recounting the lives of manet, monet, degas, cezanne, pissaro, Morisot, renior, callibotte, Sisley, and later gaugin and cassat. a wonderful story of the restless creativity and curiosity that gave rise to one of the most important developments in our modern concept of art.
and a very lovely, relaxing read in front of the fireplace, or heating duct!
