Born 2 Sing and B a Cat Mom!

Hello! My name is Annette and I have a LONG way to go. I had 2 cats until Oct 7. Jake who was 10 years old got sick suddenly and died on Oct 7. Oliver who is 2 years old, is now my only cat. (The only cat thing lasted 5 days. After 5 days of not sleeping, Oli and I welcomed a new addition - Sylvester, in late October.)

If I don't get this weight off, I might not be around to care for them. And the one thing I've believed in all my life is that when I adopt a critter it is a life-long commitment. I don't give them away when I move. I don't abandon them on the street. I care for them their entire lives. So the prospect of not being able to fulfill that weighs (no pun intended) heavily on my mind.

But cats are my favorite thing in the world as you probably know by now if you've been to my Spark page at all. So this is now my plan!

I am going to lose 100 lbs. Maybe these "little varmants" (who, by the way, never do a single thing to earn their keep - lol) can finally earn their keep by being an incentive for me to get healthy! So, that's my goal and that's my incentive/motivation.

I have been doing fairly well maintaining, and I've lost 15 lbs in the past year. I've also lost another 6 in the past 2 weeks prior to the new year. I also changed jobs in November, so even with the stress of that, I've managed to keep eating healthy.

I've been working on changing my lifestyle (to be more active) and change my life! I had been trying to do water aerobics 3x a week. But one day, I looked up and realized on Monday, I didn't feel like getting up; on Tuesday some other excuse. So I finally said to myself - if you're not disciplined enough to do this 3x a week, you'll do it every day! So I've been doing it 'almost' every day since. I've missed a couple of days when I was sick with a very bad cold, but other than that, I've kept my commitment.

My Goals:
I decided about 2 months ago that if I wanted to change my life, I had to change my lifestyle.
My goals are to lose weight (a lot of it) and become more active and learn to cook.

My Program:
I am doing water aerobics every day - 30 min right now but consistently.
My program is to change my lifestyle of constantly eating out, and start eating at home.
I've been working on keeping my life and house organized so I can keep up with cooking/packing lunches and eating healthy.
I've also begun a equal dividing of about 6 small meals a day - about 300-400 calories for every one. It doesn't really require much cooking because you can do it with yogurt, cheese sticks, fruit, carrots, cereal for breakfast, and sandwiches for lunch. It seems to fit with my lifestyle, but it does involve a lot of planning.

Personal Information:
I'm a musician/private music teacher. I have a Bachelor of Music Degree from WVU - "Go Mountaineers!", and a Master of Arts from The Ohio State University - "Go Bucks!"
During the day, I work as a telecom analyst.
I'm a WV Native - my heart belongs in WV...but I live in Central Ohio.

Other Information:
from What Dreams May Come - those things people say are impossible are "just what they've never seen before!"

Thanks Annette for the comment on my blog! You are right of course and we cannot save them all. Alls we can do is take care of the ones God has entrusted in our lives. I too care more for animals then the average person. My kids even accuse me of loving the cats more than them which of course is not true but there are times.. haha-ha, only because the cats do not talk back and get snippy with me as the kids do. Have a blessed day and upcoming week!

Hi Annette! I didn't even realize you were an Ohioan! So nice to meet you! I'm in New Lexington (direction unknown as I am terrible at knowing those things especially out here-haha- came here from Arizona where everything was straight)... your cats are gorgeous! I have 5 indoor cats, three of which were strays that had been abandoned at a very young age either at my house or within my neighborhood. I have several more strays that come around for regular feedings and loving. I just can't seem to say no to them and they all know that and take advantage.. haha! I hope you don't mind but I added you as a friend! Have a wonderful day! God Bless!

Hi Annette,

Thanks for the advice but this just started the past couple days and I have not made any changes. It seems to be things on spark that require twitter.com and rd.meebo.com to download the entire page. I can get into some things but a lot I can't.

hugs....Mary Anne
