It's all about receiving...

Funny thing is, though I've been MIA here a lot because of busy life and family convolutions, the lessons I've learned here over the last few years about good tasty eating and exercise have remained not so much because they make sense (they do), but because I like them.

I like popcorn made with olive oil. I like plain Greek yogurt with just a spoon of preserves and fresh raspberries. I don't crave cake like I used to because I let myself have old fashioned oatmeal with butter ...

I don't crave cake like I used to because I let myself have old fashioned oatmeal with butter and maple syrup any morning I want. Creamy-sweet. I like cooking fresh veggies and garlic/ginger/soy salmon. I like having occasional cheat meals - because they are no longer cheat meals. They are what I eat because I can. What I was eating before staked everything against me and was neither easier to cook nor (surprisingly) in any way more delicious.

I finally figured out that I won't exercise if I don't do it in the morning before I do anything but feed the cat and get my water. I love my 25 minutes, and I know it's because feeling so good has become a habit. I love having energy to do things, to look forward in the morning to getting out of bed to start my day. Even though some mornings are harder than others, there is just something about having that time in the morning all for myself.

What I once felt was selfish (because I thought that I should just jump into taking care of business or others immediately) I now realize was taking away from the very things I think are important. When I feel good, I can give myself freely, have extra energy to do all sorts of things. Sometimes saying no is the ultimate yes. Then, when I do say yes, I can be there fully, and it GIVES me energy because it is a joyful act of sharing. How wonderful when a chore becomes receiving being needed and connected with love, and seeing that joy reflected in others. How simple, but I just didn't know!

Somehow for years, I forgot joy. I forgot how to be my own beautiful self. I forgot it needs to be every day, lots of times a day. Thank god you were there to get me back on track and remind me it's necessary! Thank you Spark, thank you friends.

My Goals:
I'm here to lose about 20 lbs.

My Program:
206 - original start weight
204 - new start weight,
199 = massage
195 = pedicure
190 = dinner at fancy restaurant with my honey
185 = trip to Chelsea galleries
180- BMI 24.4 = retreat!

Other Information:
Non-drug things that helped:

Antiperspirant: keeps athlete's foot problems away.
Apple Cider Vinegar: 1/2 that and 1/2 water (1/3 - 2/3 if you can't tolerate it so strong) daily 15 min soak (don't wash off) will cure in a about 4-6 weeks. Use foot-sized tupperware, same batch for up to a week. Spray shoes with anti-fungal, change socks and towels often.

Magnesium:
Ended muscular pain in back and neck so it's in the normal range.
Reduced sinus inflammation - I'm almost normal!
Ended neighbor's heart palpitations when doctor confirmed she had a deficiency.

Tea Tree Oil:
24 drops each tea tree oil and lavender oil whipped into 2 tablespoons of Gold Bond cream (could be any cream), a little rubbed into feet daily: anti-fungal (as well as antiseptic, anti-viral) and for some reason appears to have reduced swelling and pain in my feet as well.

Adrienne

It was great to hear from you. I'm sorry to hear that your family has been inundated with health struggles this year. We are having a cancer reprieve and are trying to make the most of it. It is certainly giving me the chance to get my head back above water and remember the good in life. I hope you had a great Thanksgiving and will have a wonderful holiday season and new year.

Jen
