My Busy Life

I am a 56-year-old late-in-life-runner in graduate school seeking to lose weight in order to better my health and strenghten my perspective on life. I have been married 36 years, have 4 kids (3 married) and three beautiful grandchildren with two more on the way. I work full time, travel for work, do distance education, and try to maintain my family and home the best I can. Life is VERY busy but good and I know I am blessed!

My Goals:
My goal is to manage my eating (and lose 30+ lbs), be more consistent in my exercise, and keep running!






My Program:
I hope to gain better control over my eating; portion control, more fruits and vegetables, more "real" food. I also plan to increase my exercise to 90 minutes a day (I have a desk job).

Other Information:
I enjoy cooking, running, play with making cards, enjoy my studies, and like to watch Biggest Loser.

You are gonna love STP... I do FLYING WHEELS in June as a practice run. Knowing that it is considered a practice run made me feel more confident when I did my first STP. I have done it now each time just for that good prep. My prep includes doing regular hills.. pretty much every ride. Helps my mind know that it is really just in my mind.

Hey, there is a young man who does it each year on a dang unicycle!! So, you will rock it!

Are you going alone or with family? Either way, it is fun. I looked at their list a million times. Checked off each item a million times! The weeks before the first one, I had my triathlon bucket into which I would throw something I "remembered" as soon as I remembered it. I had my bike checked out by the pros a few weeks before. Things like that helped me feel more prepared.

Most of all HAVE FUN!

Thanks for the kind words on my blog. I have been through much worse, but you are right, it is still hard when it seems to come from all directions at the same time. I hope things are better on your end. I just haven't had time to keep up on everyone lately.
