before the cave helmet...after my weight loss of 22 lbs,,Aug to Sept
Heyy! My name is Athena. I live in NLR, Arkansas. I am an easy going and eager to try anything once kind of person. I tried diets, pills, and any other fad that came my way. The only thing that works is getting off of your butt and doing something about it...like moving. lol I had to start doing something for me, or I was going to go insane. I had no energy and couldn't sleep well at all. I had a toddler to take care of and after I would get home...I was just wrecked. I am 5ft 8in and at the time around 300lbs...and pretty unhappy.
I started just walking in my neighborhood over a year ago and quit. In 6 mo lost 45 lbs and gained most of it back. Sad I know, but I am back and better than ever. Started the walking again for 30 min to joining gym and winning a fitness makeover. Soon after, working my way up to walking 5k's. With the help of supportive friends and my trainers, I have managed to lose 20lbs in 8 weeks.
I am stoked and I am ready for the next 60 lbs and beyond to come off! :) I want to start running in the next few weeks and if possible find that motivated person/s to help me stay focused. I am closer to my goal but I am far away from it still. I am going to the race for the cure and my goal is to get ready to do the half for the LR Marathon in March....here we go. :)
when I started I weighed 299 lbs. After I had my son that is now 3, I would start losing and stop over and over. After winning a fitness makeover and making real progress I gained the motivation that I never seemed to have before. I am all in, and totally addicted. whoo hoo! I want to lose enough to be 180lbs..then we will see if it goes farther than that. Hopefully, but you never know.
I am drinking water like crazy! you never know how dehydrated you have been living your life until you do this. It's insane, but good. I eat half as much and I am not as hungry. I am also eating the right things 89% of the time...and it matters, lol I walk at least once a week at night with my 3 yr old Son and usually end up carrying him. I workout duirng the week and do some weight training, I speed walk/jog 5k's Sat and Sun. I will have to add more pictures later.
I am proud of what I am doing for me. I have been called many things in the past 9 weeks- awesome, a rockstar, flexible, amazing, an inspiration, a superhero, determined, strong, and hard core (lol), but no matter what i couldn't imagine going back to the way life was.
I was born in Michigan and moved to California, Arkansas, Kansas for a good stretch, Oklahoma, and back. I live in North Little Rock, Arkansas, I have two kids, 12 and 3, both boys. My three year old is with me all the time. :)
I work at a great hospital and I really am blessed with my job. I work with a great group of people.
I love music, Movies(Muhahahaha scary ones are kinda my fave) gotta love a comedy though. I love food,to cook, fun...I have a siamese cat named the great Milenko. ;)
Thanks for the friend add, I added you too! Have a wonderful day!

lolaturtle... saw that too! THAT'S AWESOME! 5k's are not as easy as some ppl make them out to be. Thank you, 10K's are not as hard as they sound. lol I just told myself I had to do it and I did. I have been slacking a bit though, I have so much work to do and I have been behind in my normal routine. I am making myself a priority and getting back into it now.lol
