My plan for the Spring 2015 5% Challenge:
My 5%=6.65 pounds to lose by end of the challenge.
In order to reach that goal, I have to lose about .83 pounds/week, or 2909 calories less /week through diet and exercise.
Walk 10 miles (140 minutes) minimum per week.

My goals for the last two challenges (Fall 2014 and Winter 2015) were pretty similar, and yes, I did manage to lose weight. However, I noticed there were two specific goals that I kept clinging to that really needed some attention. The elliptical. I don't know why I ignore this wonderful piece of equipment! I have my favorite shows recorded so I am never at a loss for entertainment. 10 minutes...that's it!
The other goal I continually state is to take a class at the gym each week. Again, don't know why it is not clicking. So, for now, I am taking those two off the table since seeing them every day when I log in is frustrating. Instead, I am going to increase the amount of time I spend walking. It has been a long and cold winter, and this gal is itching to get outside! I don't need to reduce my calories for this challenge, so I think I will make the fitness part of this challenge about exercise.
The last two weeks of the challenge are special ones for me. I am getting married on May 16 and will be on my honeymoon for the last weigh-in. My personal 'living the good life' goal for this challenge is to balance the stress of work (state assessment time!) and wedding planning with a calm and joyful spirit, and to avoid indulging in wine as a way to unwind.

My Goals:
I have finally lost my 'winter 7' and hope to drop 3 more pounds, and live happily ever after at 130.
I wish to enjoy one of the Spark People workout each day!
I want to see myself as deserving of being nurtured

My Program:
2015 Spring 5% Challenge
Current Weight: 133
Target Weight: 130
Goal Date: May 23, 2015

Walking 10 miles/week

Reduce wine intake to one or none.

Personal Information:
I am 49 years old, in good health. I started struggling with weight when I was in 9th grade. As a young woman, my weight went up and down for years. I finally found my zone when I became a young wife. After two children, my weight always settled at the same place it was before the babies, 133lbs. Over the past 20 years, things have remained very consistent with only the 'winter 7' playing a part. Typically, by the time the roads were clear enough to walk a decent clip, I was out and about, and my winter 7 was history.
Now that I am a 'woman of a certain age', things don't work quite the way they used to. In the last year, I finalized my divorce (after 23 years of marriage), my boys (21 and 19) have left the nest, and I lost my daddy (my hero). I am trying to learn how to take care of myself, now that I don't have my dad and the boys to fuss over.
I adopted a 4 year old golden retriever. Little did I know he rescued me.

Other Information:
I am a knitter, baker, reader, New York Mets fan, Auburn University football fan, and newly converted and hopeless dog lover.
I am here because I want to learn how to take care of myself. I have successfully lost that annoying 'winter 7', and I hope to settle in at 130 (give or take).
