I talked in my first introduction about determination but I have lately been questioning just how determined I really am.I have a very energetic 9-yr old grandson who turns round when I'm struggling to keep up with him, puts his hands on his hips and shouts: 'Granny!!! Are you coming?' My other grandson is nearly five and I want to be able to keep up with both of them.
I have slipped and slithered here since September 2009 - eating well - eating badly. Exercising and walking intermittently or overdoing both. The thing that has kept me here is the connection with other peoples' struggles, inspiration from other peoples' successes and oceans of support and friendship. Being part of this community is the first thing to give me hope for a better life.

My Goals:
I want to get my old energy and enthusiasm back - for myself and my health and for my family. My grandchilren are my greatest joy and I want to be able to run(!!!!) with them and see them grow and develop. My friends seem to acccept me for what I am but I would like to present them with a 'new me' - or rather ' the old me' - who doesn't give up before the evening is over.

My Program:

"The road to hell is paved with couches."

*I keep trying get OFF mine and walk 30 minutes every day plus 30 minutes on the exercise bike. Alongside this I plan gentle warm-ups followed by strength exercises and stretches.

*I will get out of bed immediately in the morning and DO something physical - vigorous house cleaning perhaps - my house would be delighted!

*Sadly I am pledging not to spend so much time on Spark for the moment - it's just another excuse to spend yet more time on my couch.

*I will stop using my car so much & WALK to shops and to visit friends within reasonable distances.

*I will keep my pedometer clipped to my belt to remind me to build up my daily steps.

I will plan all food and drink for the day ahead and develop better self discipline and consistency.

If I fail in any - or all - of these sometimes I will try not to give up and hide under my duvet

Personal Information:
My name is Sonia and I live by the sea in Brighton, UK. I always wanted to live by the sea and an opportunity fell in my lap with ridiculous time frames but I just flurried around and got everything sorted. So- done and dusted and I LOVE it here. I have two sons 43 and 39, a 4 yr-old grandson and now a new tiny one - just 13 months old - who is doubly precious because my son and his wife lost their middle child nearly 2 years ago in a cot death at 10 weeks. It has been very hard but little Eli is bigger and stronger and we can see the danger (which is how we inevitably see it) is past. A bad time but we seem to be getting through it despite the odd small- and large - stumble.

Other Information:
I enjoy DIY and am currently renovating a tiny stone cottage in a favourite family spot in Dorset which is giving great pleasure to myself and my sons and families. I am starting a textile course - always an interest of mine. I have also been able to do quite a lot of travelling since I retired - the Emirates - Hong Kong (3 blissful months) - Mexico and most European countries. I want to do more but my life is suspended at the moment until the family troubles stabilise.

Thanks for your super nice comments about that sunset last night. It was something how it transformed from the first pic to the next one (like 20 min) I posted. I loved how the sun's rays was beaming up through the clouds too! Totally unreal how so many colors can show you in just a matter of minutes! I'm so glad you all enjoy the photos! emoticon emoticon

That was some crazy weather you had! Wow. Doing well here. Hot today. But, the sun is welcome. Hope to get out and work in yards tomorrow. Been running again!! And with such ease! I think it is due to me losing the weight. Looking forward to my official training to begin after vacation in June. Hope all is well there my friend. Thanks for checking in with me. Hi Sonia
DH is fine.......we think LOL the doctor on duty in X-rays said to wait to get an appointment from the consultant (he asked Pete if he was under Dr WIlliams, yes) but as far as he could see there were no problems.
You are so kind to ask after him will all you have on!!
Hope you're still enjoying G's gigs!!!
It's raining on and off here so decided to give the gardening idea the heave-ho and will finish off on Saturday.
    Enjoy your walkies emoticon

Awwwww....so happy to help-such a nice note on my page! You are so spacial to me and I will do all I can to encourage you. That is why I stick with SP, pay it forward. That rotten egg saying was what we used to say to each other when I was a kid. Always wondered where it came from-who started that strange saying, I think it is cute! emoticon I just looked it up: An early definition appeared in The Atheneum of 1864: "A bad egg ... a fellow who had not proved to be as good as his promise." In contrast, the schoolyard saying Last one in is a rotten egg does not have any special significance other than as a way of urging others to join an activity, jump in the water, or the like.
It isn't easy staying the course, believe me, but there is no way I will go back to where I was! I keep reminding myself of that when I get too tempted to overeat, etc. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
