My Goals:
I want to be healthier, slimmer, but I'm not shooting for a bikini. :-) I want to build some strength and endurance.

My Program:
 Exercise and tracking food has been most helpful for me. The reminders in my email have been fabulous too! Everything in SP seems designed to help me stay on program.

Personal Information:
I'm in Alaska, and have been all my life except for a brief period in Calif.

Other Information:
 I love music, dancing, and movies!

Dear AlaskaWoman, I am new at Sparkpeople and trying to learn my way around. I too am over 50 in fact this coming Sunday I will reach the benchmark of 65. My first real memories in life is of how beautiful Fairbanks was in 1947. Thats when my family moved up there. My dad was in the Air Force. We were there fo 3 years. Then by the grace of God we were sent back to Anchorage in 1957. I feel very lucky to have been there when Alaska became a state. I now live in Maine my dads last station. Northern Maine is a lot like Alaska but not as awsome. I am hoping I can find people who help me keep on track with this new program. Thanks for letting me spill my guts and I hope to hear from you.

HI AK Woman!

I am in the US Army, but am working on getting settled in my retirement home in Cohoe/Kasilof. I bought my property up there when I returned from my first trip to the Middle East over four years ago, and have the part cleared, well put in, fill dirt down and driveways in and graveled. Next Summer, I will build my house and move up the following year. I am not quite 60, but will be in a couple of years. I was born and raised in MN and rhe Pacicfic NW, but Uncle Sam has me in Southern CA right now and it is too warm there for me. I love AK, love the water, and love the life style. You just have to keep active and have hobbies for the long winters. But, we had to do the same in MN.

It looks like you did quite well losing weighr in a short period of time. Congrats on that! I love music, dancing, playing music, singing, dancing, needle work, gardening, reading, fishing, etc. I can not wait to get on w/ the rest of my life. I plan setting up a Medical Consultin practice when I get settled and get my herb gardens and green house in. It will take a couple of years. Each year it gets harder to come back to the lower 48.

I have been in the military for 34 1/2 years. When I wenr back to Iraq and Kuwait this spring, I decided it was time to give it up. I never want to be responsible for slowing any unit or member of my unit down. I am in the medical command, but currently am in a Brigade that trains untis that are preparing for deployment. We train the Commander's and their primary staff's in the Military Decision Making Process and then follow it up w/ Computer Simulations exercises. This is to help them make good decisions and hopefully they can all come home safe and sound.

Keep up the good work- Exercise, journaling, eating healthfully, sharing w/ others will all help you reach and stay at your goal. Are you in Anchorage or where? Take care and I hope to met you when I return to AK, next summer or when I settle up there for good.

I live in Eagle River, but want to move back to Anchorage. I love it and won't live any where else, even with the crazy weather we are having lol emoticon
