Hi and welcome to my page. I'm Amina, I'm Australian, I'm Muslim, and I'm overweight and unfit. I have to change my attitude to food, especially junk food, because for too long I've turned to garbage masquerading as food in the form of chocolates, cakes, biscuits and soft drinks when things in my life weren't going the way I wanted them to.

Hi and welcome to my page. I'm Amina, I'm Australian, I'm Muslim, and I'm overweight and unfit. I have to change my attitude to food, especially junk food, because for too long I've turned to garbage masquerading as food in the form of chocolates, cakes, biscuits and soft drinks when things in my life weren't going the way I wanted them to.

This has to stop, I have to treat my body as it should be, not just assume it will go on forever regardless of what I do to it. I already have osteoarthritis and am on medication to control my high blood pressure. Tonight I was watching an episode of the Biggest Loser, and wishing I could transform my life as those contestants are trying to do. I know it's not going to be easy, I know there will be times when I will struggle, but this time I have to make big changes to the way I regard food. It is not a comforting friend, it is simply a means to fuel my body so I can do the things I need to and the things I want to do.

Today I found Spark People. This is step one of my return to becoming the person I know I should - and can - be.

My Goals:
I want to stop resorting to junk food because my life isn't the way I want it to be, or because I'm just too lazy to be bothered to cook a proper meal.

I want to get back to exercising, to walk my dogs further than I do currently, and to do so each day.

I want to rediscover the energy and fitness level which will allow me to work on establishing a garden in the house I am now living in.

I want to be happy, and I want to feel well.

My Program:
Healthy eating.

Water rather than soft drink.

Work on increasing my fitness level.

Think of exercise as an enjoyable part of every day, not a form of torture.

Accept there will be good days and not-so-good days, and that a mistake doesn't mean I've failed, just that I'll have to try harder.

Personal Information:
I am stubborn enough not to give up on achieving anything I consider important enough. Now is the time I have to consider my return to good health and happiness as worthy of not giving up on.
