What about adding Greek yogurt to your smoothie for protein? Or just eating it alongside the smoothie? When I work out in the AM I will eat Greek yogurt beforehand and then when I come home, I make a smoothie. I personally don't like adding the yogurt to the smoothie because it's a lot of calories in one thing -- and I enjoy the act of eating. :)
I do not use protein powder in my smoothies. A typical smoothie for me is 1 big leaf of kale, 1 c. frozen mixed fruits (typically peaches, mango, pineapple, sometimes strawberries or blueberries), half a banana, and 1 T. chia seeds. The chia seeds have 3 g of protein per tablespoon. I use water as the liquid.
It's great that you're working out more but are you working out so much that you need to worry about protein?
