All it takes is waking up every morning and saying the same thing as yesterday morning: I commit!
All my life I've been overweight or obese, if you exclude 1st grade! I've never known what it is like to be an adult in the "normal" weight range. It's something that I've always carried around with me, and now, I feel like I've had enough. It needs to end. I turn 20 on June 15th, 2009 and want to go into my 20s healthier! It's something that I've always carried around with me, and now, I feel like I've had enough. It needs to end. I turn 20 on June 15th, 2009 and want to go into my 20s healthier! August 2009: I wrote the above in September 2008. I turned 20 June 15th, and DID it, I DID go into my 20s healthier. I have been running for almost a year and now can say with full confidence, assurance, and positive that I AM A RUNNER. It's something that I couldn't do without in my life. It calms me, I love it and it loves me. We're two peas in a pod, made for each other it feels like! :-) January 2010: Now my goal is to go into my 21st year in the healthy weight range!!! I never knew what it was like to be an adult in the normal weight range... NOW I WILL! ______________________________________ I'd lost weight before, simply by counting calories (I always did it healthily, never drastically) and working out, and managed to lose 45 pounds. Slowly, the weight crept back on and I was back to right where I was before. Many attempts had followed, all failing. I even joined weight watchers for a year, and while I lost 10 pounds, that's all I managed to do on it, maintain that 10 pound loss. While I still considered it an accomplishment, I decided I didn't need to be paying 40 dollars a month for it..... Sparkpeople works! The reason that I gained back all that weight is because I never got to the root of WHY I was fat. WHY I was overeating. WHY I used food as comfort. And a huge part of my journey this time around (the LAST time around) is dealing with my emotional eating and HEALING! I've done enough damage to my body and I am DONE. I love the feeling that comes from exercising. I love every bit of strength I gain. I went from doing modified pushups with my butt sticking out because I didn't have the strength to do real modified ones to being able to do REAL man pushups! (Now I want to master them and do the 100pushup challenge and then move to on the ball ones and one arm ones!) I went from not being able to run one minute to running a 10 mile race this past May! Look at what this body can do!!! I realized that in order to succeed I have to love myself. I have to realize that I AM WORTH the time, energy, planning, ALL of it. Your body's all you've got! On September 3rd, 2008 I started the Couch to 5K program and decided to not rush into demanding of myself a lot of weight to lose right away. I focused on changing my habits. For the first two weeks, I didn't use the nutrition or fitness tracker, I just made sure to get my vitamin, wrote down what I ate, and drank 4 liters of water every day. (By the end of the the two weeks I was doing all that steadily every day). Then I decided to come on SP and started tracking. The first month I lost 2 pounds, then gained it back ( which didn't worry me since I'd heard of some ppl gaining w/ c25k) but since October it's been all losses since! I don't get too focused on the number on the scale because I know that's just a set up for failure. 1 pound a week, I welcome it and celebrate it and focus on how I feel and changing my habits!!!! I'm 5'11''! I signed up for this account in April of 07 but never used it, and came back on September 15th of 2008. That's my personal official start date with SP. And the last start date!

HELLO, DO YOU KNOW ME? Hello, do you know me? If you don't, you should. I'm a pound of fat. And I'm the HAPPIEST pound of fat that you would ever want to meet. Want to know why? It's because no one ever wants to lose me; I'm ONLY ONE POUND, just a pound! Everyone wants to lose 3 pounds, 5 pounds, or 15 pounds, but never only 1. So I just stick around and happily keep you fat. Then I add to myself, every so slyly, so that you never seem to notice it. That is, until I've grown to 10, 20, 30 or even more pounds in weight. Yes, it is FUN being ONLY ONE POUND OF FAT, Left to do as I please. So, when you weigh in, keep right on saying, "Oh, I only lost one pound." (As if that were such a terrible thing.) For you see, if you do this, you encourage others to keep me around because they will think I'm just not worth the effort.
