I started this journey with Spark on October 21, 2008. A few weeks before finding and embracing SP, I looked in the mirror and finally had enough! I decided that it was time to take control of my health. I live in one of the healthiest states in the US (Colorado), yet I was at my unhealthiest weight! I vowed to be more active, to make conscience decisions on what I put in my mouth, and to make the complete lifestyle change. I had done everything to lose weight...diet pills, crash diets, over restricting my calories, binging/purging, fad diets...anything. I always gained the weight back and then some. This time around is different. I am not trying to fit into a dress, look good for a vacation or reunion, or anything with a deadline. I am doing this for my life. For the first time, I am doing this for myself. . I am 56 lbs lighter and about 14 lbs away from my goal. I feel like I am in the home stretch now. I have gone from a size 14+ to a size 6. I have gone from getting winded walking up the stairs to training for a half marathon! I have gone from fearing and hating my relationship with food to using food for the soul purpose of nutrition...not for a shoulder to cry on, for venting anger, or for a reward. I am now in a place where I do not fear being in pictures, I pose with pride! I have mended my broken "girlie shopping gene" and found the joy in finding clothes that fit and feel confident. I have changed my life. I have healed myself in ways that I didn't know were possible. I could not have done this without SP. The tools, information, and support of this website along with my desire and commitment to change was just what I needed to succeed. It's true what they say, "it's about the journey, not the destination." I have learned a lot about myself, nutrition, fitness, and living life. I am looking forward to reaching my goal weight and learning how to live in maintenance. This is my new lifestyle..for life.
