When I was in my thirties, I lost forty pounds on Weight Watchers. I maintained for a couple years. However, a serious ankle injury and a divorce led me to revert to bad habits. I looked for solace in the bottom of many cartons of Ben & Jerry's. Big surprise -- I didn't find it there. I regained all but three pounds of the weight I'd lost on Weight Watchers.

I joined Sparkpeople in early 2010, and it took me about ten months to lose ten pounds. I wish I could say I maintained that ten pound loss, but by early 2013, I was back to my highest weight ever.

I know it's time to live this as a lifestyle change and not a temporary fix. Diabetes runs in my family, as do heart disease and depression.

In March 2013 I discovered _The DASH Diet Weight Loss Solution_ by Marla Heller. This way of eating has clicked for me. I feel I'm building a healthy relationship with food for the first time in my adult life. I am not experiencing the blood sugar lows, shaking-starving episodes, and food cravings that used to be familiar, if not daily, events. I understand how my body should feel, and how to feed it. It's hard for me to explain what a freeing experience learning to eat this way has been.

I got back into a size 8 in late July 2013 (woohoo!), and I reached my goal weight on September 1, 2013. In October 2013, I lowered my goal weight a little after I bought new work clothes in size 6!

My long-term goals are to integrate maintenance skills, to get to my best level of fitness, and to feel lots of vitality.

My focus is on living a healthy, balanced life. I know that if it is to be, it's up to me.

...AND! I'm engaged to my best friend and the sweetest woman I know. We're planning a wedding on Memorial Day weekend 2014.

My Program:
I started the DASH Diet Weight Loss Solution on 3/8/13.

I reached my goal weight on 10/23/13. I lost 37 pounds on DASH (and 3 before I started DASH).

For fitness, since 3/8/14, I am following the 90-day Warrior workout program on the HASfit.com website. I love these workouts!

Personal Information:
I was born in New England, but now live in Northeast Los Angeles. I'm the mom of an 11-year-old. I recently became engaged to my best friend, and we're planning a May 2014 wedding. I work full-time as a Supervisor for an Infant Development Program with infants and toddlers with developmental disabilities and delays.

hi angel thanks for stopping by my page. dash diet really not into it. have lost my will power. since then started nutri-system cost a lot did good for a while then off didn't like some of the food. I love the snacks, and desserts.still hanging in there . I get so tired of it all. nice to meet you. pat emoticon
