Keep Your Focus

My attention to exercise really began in college when I started cycling. To me, to be a real cyclist, I had to ride 100 miles in one day - so I did. My attention to exercise really began in college when I started cycling. To me, to be a real cyclist, I had to ride 100 miles in one day - so I did. I did that several times throughout the years and then I got bored. I discovered weight lifting and enjoyed the benefits that the weights brought me. Then I discovered running. Now, I am still not sure that I enjoy running, but I have completed 4 marathons over the years. This past year I completed my fourth marathon - only to realize that I did not lose a single pound of weight in all of that training. To look at me, most people would say I am in great shape - and physically speaking, I guess I am, but something is missing for me. I want to LOOK like an athlete. See, in my mind - throughout the years- I believed what people told me - that since I was exercising so much, I could eat and drink whatever I wanted. Well, since turning 40, I realize now that it is not true. Now I am focused on eating right, exercising to gain muscle, to build that athletic figure that I know I can be!!

Ha! I wish I earned exercise points for working! Can you imagine? I would never have to worry about weight again! Actually, I created a custom map from my home to work and back. I have a few maps (work to post office, home to post office...) It takes me 30 minutes to walk to work; nice way to start the day!

I took Prilosec for much longer than you (8 years) as per doctors orders. I stopped when I was diagnosed with osteopenia last year. I tried to avoid food that triggered acid reflux, and I took Rolaids to help ease stomach upsets. Good luck!
