Keep Your Focus

My attention to exercise really began in college when I started cycling. To me, to be a real cyclist, I had to ride 100 miles in one day - so I did. I did that several times throughout the years and then I got bored. I discovered weight lifting and enjoyed the benefits that the weights brought me. Then I discovered running. Now, I am still not sure that I enjoy running, but I have completed 4 marathons over the years. This past year I completed my fourth marathon - only to realize that I ...
This past year I completed my fourth marathon - only to realize that I did not lose a single pound of weight in all of that training. To look at me, most people would say I am in great shape - and physically speaking, I guess I am, but something is missing for me. I want to LOOK like an athlete. See, in my mind - throughout the years- I believed what people told me - that since I was exercising so much, I could eat and drink whatever I wanted. Well, since turning 40, I realize now that it is not true. Now I am focused on eating right, exercising to gain muscle, to build that athletic figure that I know I can be!!

I'm glad to hear you know when it's time to ramp things up :)
Since I started following you on your "starting over" blog, I thought you meant from ground zero! Lol

Hi! I always shower before I leave, but I have chronic-pain issues and kinda have to in order to feel human in the morning. When it comes to changing my clothes once there, I have a varied approach depending on the weather. Except for summer, I often can get away with not changing at all. I do feel damp for part of the day, but my coworkers assure me I'm not stinky somehow! LOL)

However, I am lucky enough to be able to wear jeans (or whatever!) to work, so it's not like I need to look better than presentable. Sometimes I wish it were easier to look cute and ride, but that's another topic. (I see women who do it and I marvel at them!)

In the summer, I wear a tank and my jeans (I'm weird - my butt hurts less in them! LOL) and I bring a shirt and underclothes. I have a little bag with deodorant and whatnot that I keep in my desk drawer, and I just clean up a bit and change most of my clothes and hope for the best with my hair. (I pull it back in a ponytail and wear a bandana under my helmet.)

When it's hotter than 90s, I usually have to pack my jeans and change into them too, because it is just too sweaty.

I hope that helps! If you have easy access to a shower at work though, and don't need to shower beforehand, that would probably be less complicated! emoticon

the quinoa recipe is basically-
I soak 1 cup or 2 cups overnight and then rinse in the a.m- realy good and then I cook it in 1.5 cups or 3 cups water- ratio 1:1.5. I let it boil together and then turn it down and cover for 15 min.- I add a nut milk and sauteed fruit. You can cook it in the milk too.
now no- I was not hungry but I'm not sure why except that I got out of the no snacking rule by having 4 meals as it does not really say anything about that...kinda. I think I 'm eating enough beans and making sure I have enough nuts and seeds- within the limits but making sure I get them. So far so good.
