Keep Your Focus

My attention to exercise really began in college when I started cycling. To me, to be a real cyclist, I had to ride 100 miles in one day - so I did. I did that several times throughout the years and then I got bored. I discovered weight lifting and enjoyed the benefits that the weights brought me. Then I discovered running. Now, I am still not sure that I enjoy running, but I have completed 4 marathons over the years. This past year I completed my fourth marathon - only to realize that I ...
This past year I completed my fourth marathon - only to realize that I did not lose a single pound of weight in all of that training. To look at me, most people would say I am in great shape - and physically speaking, I guess I am, but something is missing for me. I want to LOOK like an athlete. See, in my mind - throughout the years- I believed what people told me - that since I was exercising so much, I could eat and drink whatever I wanted. Well, since turning 40, I realize now that it is not true. Now I am focused on eating right, exercising to gain muscle, to build that athletic figure that I know I can be!!

I highly recommend the cold room trick for sleep. The big guy said it was like something out of The Exorcist. He walked into the room last night, it was in the low teens in there and the wind was howling through, rattling the blinds. I'm having trouble with a bad head cold, but boy did I sleep well. Hooray for down comforters!

ok let's do this! The coffee is a hard one. Sometimes it is the thing that gets me out of bed.

Thanks. I am really trying. But recent photos frustrate....
1. My behind is just as big again as at beginning of the year
2. My tummy is sticking out, about 1/2m again....

Ok I am exaggerating. but you get the gist.....

I think I am fully over the cold and am re-starting the gym tomorrow. Hope it helps quickly. Am also trying to log in everything I eat.

Thank you for your comments about tracking on my recent blog - you did not upset at me at all, you gave me some new perspective. I envy the people who can track their food consistently and learn from their trackers what they are doing wrong (and right!). Perhaps one day I will try that tactic again. Right now, I am doing incredibly well without tracking - not perfect, of course, but no binge eating, no late night eating, no unplanned treats, no giving in to unexpected temptations...and I'm exercising more. So somehow, something is clicking!
Thanks again for your support and sharing your thoughts! Have a wonderful day!
