Keep Your Focus

My attention to exercise really began in college when I started cycling. To me, to be a real cyclist, I had to ride 100 miles in one day - so I did. My attention to exercise really began in college when I started cycling. To me, to be a real cyclist, I had to ride 100 miles in one day - so I did. I did that several times throughout the years and then I got bored. I discovered weight lifting and enjoyed the benefits that the weights brought me. Then I discovered running. Now, I am still not sure that I enjoy running, but I have completed 4 marathons over the years. This past year I completed my fourth marathon - only to realize that I did not lose a single pound of weight in all of that training. To look at me, most people would say I am in great shape - and physically speaking, I guess I am, but something is missing for me. I want to LOOK like an athlete. See, in my mind - throughout the years- I believed what people told me - that since I was exercising so much, I could eat and drink whatever I wanted. Well, since turning 40, I realize now that it is not true. Now I am focused on eating right, exercising to gain muscle, to build that athletic figure that I know I can be!!

Welcome to the Perimenopause Team.
When I turned 40 I was still doing 50-60km a week running and suddenly I piled on 5kg in 1 month and it continued. Loosing weight has been a struggle ever since.
Last year the hormones made me pile on another 10kg and nothing seemed to work.
So we are in this together. I have just lost weight through a strict detox program, which also helped my asthma & my rheumatoid arthritis. Now I am back to normal diet and have to see how I will manage to loose some more. I totally hear you on the wanting to look athletic

From early May through the end of the summer we have fireflies every morning that the temperature is above 65 c. The big guy and I sit outside and drink our coffee together around 3 - 4 ish and enjoy them. It helps that I leave a sizable meadow unmowed
