Mine is going slow as well, I joined a couple weeks ago, but decided yesterday to really try and get serious... again! emoticon
I am really ready to get back to who I used to be!! I just have to remind myself I didn't get this size over night, it's not going to go away over night either!!

Thanks for the friend add! (I've added you as well!) I see that you are a member of the Michigan team - and that you are from Portage. It's a small world. I live between Battle Creek and Kalamazoo in Climax. I joined Spark in March, but didn't really follow through with any changes. I came back at the end of July and have been Sparkin' ever since. I love this website! There is so much support and so many wonderful people here! I promise, you'll love it here! emoticon Hope to talk to you soon - have a terrific weekend!

Good for you for taking the first steps! SP is so helpful when it comes to tracking food and exercise...I never realized how much I was eating before! The recipes are super helpful too, especially when you are cooking for someone else (who may not share your enthusiasm for weight loss). Most of the recipes I tried were delicious! Portion control was a new concept to me...but gets much easier with time. Switching your exercise from day to day is another trick I use to avoid getting bored with one or the other (and SP tells you about how many calories you burn for each activity). I actually used to live in the Portage/Kalamazoo area, but now I live in Northern Michigan! Hope you had fun camping! Good luck to you!

Welcome to SP! This is a fantastic site and if you use the tools, the weight will come off. I set my goals to lose 30 lbs in about 11 months. ( I joke that I am the tortoise of weight loss.) But since joining back in June, my weight loss has been slow and steady (a little less than 1 lb/week). Remember to see all successes no how tiny you may see them as victories against the battle of the bulge!

I'm fairly new to the page as well but I've been making small changes for a while now.

I read about your upcoming vacation. I just went on vacation and what I found helped me the most was to stay active.( I excercised at the hotel gym) by staying active it kept me focused on not overdoing it with the unhealthy snacks. When it was time to go to dinner with family I ate smaller portions and I actually returned two pounds lighter!
