As we begin the new 5% Challenge, I feel strong and hopeful, but most of all, I am committed. I can and will do this.
Relying on feelings does not always work. Motivation can ebb and flow. That's where commitment kicks in and carries me to the next mountaintop. Each success fuels motivation. Encouraging others also stokes my motivation. Sometimes the encouragement I give others is exactly what I need to hear today.

There are people who set a course and never waver. Unfortunately I am a yo-yo. My journey has included winning streaks and gaining streaks, high motivation periods and wandering in la-la land.
At this point I not only have to lose the extra pounds I was carrying when I joined Spark, but also the weight I've gained since then. I have a head full of knowledge and years of experiencing what works and what doesn't.
It is not an all or nothing journey. It's a journey of many steps.

My Program:
Eat less, move more. I prefer low carb but I will flex.



Personal Information:
Hashimoto's thyroiditis, hypertension, arthritis. Cancer survivor.
Mobility is fragile. Had 5 hip surgeries (including 2 total hip replacements). Then broke hip in 2014. Now using a rollator part of the time. At times it is challenging going from sitting to standing. I have to use taller chairs.
Torn rotator cuff the end of 2015, non-operable. Orthopedic surgeon now tells me I need a total shoulder replacement on the other arm. Pain, everyday!

2017 Goal: Lose 10 pounds a month. Concentrate on maintaining each loss. End each month weighing less than monthly starting weight.
