My Goals:
Short term: break 230lbs

Middle of the road: get back to my pre-marriage, pre-pregnancy weight of 195lbs

Long term: get to a healthy weight (around 145lbs

My Program:
I don't really have a program yet...just trying to watch what I eat and get off my butt a couple times a day, lol.

Personal Information:
I'm a 37 year old SAHM to 5. My kids are Meagan (14), Owen (12), Brenna (11), Nora (8) and Jack (4).

I've been married 14 years now (Jan. 7) to Patrick and we live in a small town outside of Vancouver, WA. I'm originally from Chicago.

I'm currently working on my BA in English/Creative Writing at Southern New Hampshire University. I should graduate May 2015. Last week I made the President's List for the spring (2014) term with a 4.0 GPA.

In my random free time I like to knit, write (novels and fanfic), watch TV (I'm a big sci-fi geek), and read (mostly YA romance or dystopian).

Other Information:
Dealing with a mental illness makes things harder. I was recently diagnosed with bipolar after years of depression.

Since being put on bipolar medication I've been gaining weight which is not a good thing.

The good part is I've been feeling better, much less depression, and more energy.

Hey Jen, i just read your introduction on 5%summer. I too suffer from bipolar. I finally got my meds right about 3 years ago and this is the longest ive gone without hospitalization. Over 8 years i was hospitalized 5 times. One of those i was on short term disability for 12 weeks. It is hard to loose weight on some of the meds but it is doable just a sliwer pace than other people. I have found that besides countinf calories, eating quality foods really work and using the guide that using a 9" plate i fill half the plate with none starchy vegetables 1/4 with protein and 1/4 with carbs. I know you will achieve your goals. Just remember, you cant fail if you never give up. God bless.

You might be interested in a few of the pictures I have on my page from when I went to Vancouver last year and geeked out visiting Stargate shooting locations. Jack's cabin was incredible!

I saw you on the writers workshop team I wanted to invite you to another team (okay so it's mine!) because I'm about to start Script Frenzy this April and need something to keep me on track. The workshop will keep me writing but I need a challenge to go with it and yet want some people who know what it's like to combine writing and staying fit. The team is called, "The Challenge" and can be found on my sparks page. Hope to see you there. I'm starting a new challenge for us this April.
