My profile name reminds me to grab an apple instead of a cookie.
One of my goals is to watch a sunset or a sunrise two times a month. Harder than I thought to do!

My main goal is be healthy, fit and strong, more active approaching 40 than I ever was in my teens and 20s. In January 2006, I weighed 168 lbs and I set a goal to to get down to 150 for my 5' 7.5" frame. I met that goal in June 2006. It look me a little more than 5 months to lose 18 lbs. By October 2006 I was down to 144 lbs, my second goal, which was a goal weight from a fitness evaluation when I joined my gym (a recommended weight based on a solid, healthy BMI for 5'7"). Woo hoo! I want to keep from gaining back the total 24 lbs that I have lost! I have never been successful at "traditional" dieting or views about beauty or body images. It seems like part of me has been confused about the difference between a healthy, trim-and-toned body and an unrealistic Barbie doll/waiflike model hybrid. Starting in puberty, I rejected the urge to try to be Barbie, but I used that as an excuse not to take care of my body. Or, maybe I was just lazy. It took me til I was in my 30s to finally learn that simply focusing on healthy habits for eating and exercising can actually make a difference over time. On the SP web site, I've found good direct, common-sense information, and a wide variety of support groups. Yes, it really worked! Building the healthy habits took time, but now those are regular habits that are a part of my life, and they will keep me from gaining back the weight! About me: I am happily married and don't plan on any of my own children, but I admire everyone who takes on the role of parent. I don't fit too well into the suburban lifestyle where neighbors go jogging together or join a softball league. Work from home in a high-tech job, and my husband is a self-employed musician. We live in a small mountain town with a lot of artists & musicians. Sometimes it seems because we don't have children, we haven't really grown up...that can be good and bad! Thanks, SparkPeople! And thanks to my darlin husband for supporting and encouring me!

Just thought you might like to know: you are thinner than 74% of women of your age and height. I know you'd like to weigh less, but that is still pretty good!
