Forward Sized Player Becoming Back Sized

Hello!

I really should say "Trying to become" back sized. Rugby reference for a title.

I am 34 years old and have been over 200 ever since I was 20.
14 years of being over weight!!! Ugh.

I have been trying to lose weight off and on the entire 14 years. Losing and gaining and losing only to gain it again. I finally got serious.

I have been seriously putting an effort in, for at least 3 years. I was well on my way after my first Knee surgery, only to be knocked down by the need for a second knee surgery, 1 year after my first. Ugh. Put me right up to 270#. I have never been that heavy before and never want to be that heavy again!

I lost 30#s after my second knee surgery only to end up with a torn meniscus 1 year later... unlucky tackle at the end of the game. Isn't that always the way? Anyway, I gained only 10pounds.

When you have knee surgery, it feels like you can't move out of fear of injuring yourself again, until you're cleared. Even then... you are not so sure. The weight just came back on with a vengeance, thanks to my lack of movement and not lacking food.

So, I have been on the right track for 1.5 year now, even with the third knee surgery. I have lost 20#'s of fat, I have lost 5 inches total off of my hips and waist. I have been working out almost everyday at a bootcamp style gym. (Not Cross Fit!!) I have changed my thinking. I use to want to be thin and a certain weight. I wasn't happy unless I achieved that weight. (So... I haven't been happy for a quite sometime.) I no longer want to be "thin", no longer want a pant size, no longer want a particular number on the scale, and no longer want all the stereotypical things that I associate with thin.

What I want is to be fit and healthy. As long as I know I am doing my best to make progress towards, that I am going to work on being happy. (I say work on being happy, because when you have spent years focusing on a number.... it is hard to make the change over.)

It has been a slow long hard process, but I am on my way! Hoping for no more set backs, just progress!

As part of my progress: I signed up for a Sprint Triathlon in July and have been doing uphill racing this winter.
Racing is only figure of speech... as I have in fact signed up for these races, but I am not interested in placing this year. Just doing my best to complete the courses. :)

Saw your comment about the physician. I am shaking my head. (I am a health care provider). There are ways to say things and then there are ways to say things.

In addition, you have done the biggest challenge - you have started and you have lost the first pound.
