No Finish Line

Hi, my name is Katie - thanks for stopping by my page.

When I started this journey March 2011, I was stuck - stuck at 250 lbs, stuck in old patterns of thinking, stuck with ideas of who I was, what I could do, and what I wanted from life.

I had these notions that if I could just get down to what my driver's license has said for years (175) or just get down to those "goal" jeans I've held onto since high school (16s) everything would be okay, my life would be perfect ...

When I started this journey March 2011, I was stuck - stuck at 250 lbs, stuck in old patterns of thinking, stuck with ideas of who I was, what I could do, and what I wanted from life.

I had these notions that if I could just get down to what my driver's license has said for years (175) or just get down to those "goal" jeans I've held onto since high school (16s) everything would be okay, my life would be perfect etc, etc.

But I realized in a very short time that my goals were out of whack - 175 isn't even normal BMI - for my height, 173 is the very top of that range - I'd actually rather shoot for the middle of healthy - and those dream goal jeans? they were all wrong for my body - I'm wearing 12s and 14s now - and I still have a long way to go.

What has changed since I started this journey is my ultimate goals: to be fit and strong - that's it. I don't want to define my long term goals by arbitrary numbers on a scale or a tag - there is so much that can influence these things in the short term.

Numbers are great for short term goals because they can give you something to shoot for - it makes it easier to keep that finish line in mind - and monthly goals do have a finish line.

But my long term goals - my life goals - there is no finish line for those - fit and strong is a shifting sand on which I run - the journey is why I am here.

*~* Update 1.6.13: In May of 2012, we started the process of buying a local book store, and by June of 2012, I went from a relatively calm life, to a rather stressful one, and my way of dealing with the stress was not ideal, I mainly turned to soda and sugar - and my health has paid the toll. The worst thing I did in that period was I stopped tracking. Tracking as at the core of what worked for me on with SP - and so tracking is what I am back to, along with eating higher quality foods, and learning to manage my stress in a way that does not involve sugar, because the sugar is making me sick - Spark On! *~*

※ Simple calories in/calories out

~ track EVERYTHING in the nutrition tracker

~ aim for 1200-1550 calories a day

~ eat 6 meals a day of roughly 250 calories each

Out:

~ cardio: 20 mins daily (walking)

~ strength: 15 mins daily (rotating upper, core, lower)

~ stretching: after cardio & strength, but also trying to add some yoga once a week for flexibility

Hey there,

I'm starting over. I had a lot go on in my personal life last year, and my whole health that i tried so hard to fix, well it fell apart. I'm starting to clear the fuzz in my head, and starting to aim high again. So I'm back to SP.

I came to look at your page, as you are one of the people who inspired me the most when I used SP in late 2011. After scrolling about, I see your life has become very busy too. I hope your bookstore is running well.

Hopefully I can come back to your page after a few weeks, to keep being inspired.
