Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.
So, the problem for me is that I have been hungering and thirsting for the wrong "food!" I NEED to remember the verse above when I'm frustrated, stressed, depressed, lonely, etc. Because the junk food/ or my favorite comfort food NEVER "fills" me up OR satisfies me....they only leave me feeling unsatisfied AND heavier!
Isn't it awesome how the very word of God even covers "weight" issues....I know this verse is talking about the spiritual part of our lives - but we are beings who have many parts, and how we feel spiritually, emotionally, physically, ALL tie together and directly affect all parts of "us". We need to be healthy wholly and completely - "The whole package"
I'm in my late 40's, and I'm tired of being tired. I want to be the best person I can be - inside and out! I have a chronic health issue and have learned that by eating right and taking care of my body, I feel much better. I joined sparkpeople because I tend to be a "fly by the seat of my pants" kinda girl, and I know that I need some kind of accountability.
I am a very creative, artsy-type who tends to put herself last. So, I decided to take a chance on myself and do something for me for a change! It only took me 40 years to figure that out....lol.
I figure if I'm in better shape, it'll be a positive for the people around me as well.
I'm learning that I need to get myself healthy on the inside as well as on the outside, and thanks to Spark and the wonderful people on here, I'm moving in the right direction!
Just keep moving one step at a time, just make sure you're moving in the right direction! It helps when God is your Compass...
I want to be in the best health that I can be... My goal as far as weight goes, is to lose 20-25 lbs. My desire is to have more energy! Also, to stop eating for comfort!
Currently, I am eating a lot of fruits and vegetables! It is the mainstay of my diet. But I don't think of it as a "diet". This is the way that I plan on eating for the rest of my life. I eat meat, so I'm not a vegetarian, and I stay away from processed foods as much as possible. I guess you could say I try to eat foods that are as close to their natural state as possible. I also drink plenty of water.
I am a soft-hearted woman who tries to "make nice" with everyone, even if it causes stress for me... I'm a work in progress. I have been married for 29 years. I have two children. My daughter is 25, and my son is 24. We live in Pennsylvania, and have Amish neighbors.
I love animals - and have way too many pets.
(7 cats and two pomeranians).
I'm currently unemployed.
I'm an artistic person who tends to put others first, so this is a stretch for me to be focusing on myself. But, I know if I'm healthier, those around me will also benefit.
