Baby Steps

I have two kids. We eat healthy & the kids get plenty of exercise, but I want them to see that fitness is important to me, too. I have Fibromyalgia and Asthma. These have helped hamper my fitness/weight loss efforts over the years since my youngest was born. They make it harder to workout & lose weight, and get worse the more weight I carry. So, part of my fitness/weight loss goals are to be able to control them again, without medication, like I used to be able to do.

My Goals:
My ultimate goals are:

1. Get back to my ideal weight

2. Control Asthma without medication

3. Control Fibromyalgia without medication

4. Be a good role model for healthy living, for my kids

My Program:
My program is very fluid in nature. My plan to reach my ultimate goals is to take small steps, setting short-term goals. I have broken up my total weight loss goals into smaller chunks, for motivation (it's so much less overwhelming to lose 20 or 40 lbs than 100+). My exercise, at this time, consists mostly of walking. That is an exercise I can do daily without my medical conditions flaming up too much. Despite a general dislike for tracking what I eat, I have started tracking my food, but in a slightly different way. Instead of keeping track of things like calories & fat, I mainly focus on how many servings of each food group I consume. I use the same notebook to track how many miles I walk & how many cups of water I drink each day, as well as whatever other goals I'm working toward at the time. I also jot down what each meal actually was, which may help narrow down the causes of some of my migraines.
