I have been on SparkPeople since June of this year. Almost four months. It has been quite a learning experience! I have gone from physical therapy for ten minutes to now 55 minutes of chair exercise. I have learned how to blog and to track food and exercise. Just learning how to read the site was an accomplishment. However, most of all, I have made many Sparkfriends. So much positive support and caring comments!! Joining SparkPeople was the best decision I could have made.

So much positive support and caring comments!! Joining SparkPeople was the best decision I could have made.

I am 62 (soon 63). I have diabetes, neuropathy, retinopathy, kidney disease, heart failure and cirrhosis of the liver. I have balance problems and fall, quite a lot actually. I had become my diseases. I had given up my horse riding, my gardens and other enjoyments.

Now, though I am still in my wheel chair, I have been moving more. Spending more time with my daughters and my grandchildren. They are such a pleasure in my life.

As I continue on this journey, I have regained some time in my garden, continued my quilting, sewing, knitting and crafts. I have begun voluntary simplicity. Going through my home and removing all the collections of 'things' that I really have no use for. As a result, I am constantly going through 'tubs'. Passing on to my children items that they would have gotten anyway. It is lifting a burden of possessions from my back.

I have found my spirit again and relish the time I am able to spend on Scriptures. My faith has been renewed and I am moving forward.

Hi, Alice, I am catching up on my SparkPeople activities after being gone 3 days this week. Thanks for sending me the flowers. You are right - they did make me smile. And they are virtual, so they will not dry out or rot away. I will always have them on my SparkPage to remember you and cheer me up.
Hope you have a blessed weekend!
~Beth

"Each of us has that right, that possibility, to invent ourselves daily. If a person does not invent herself, she will be invented. So, to be bodacious enough to invent ourselves is wise."

Thank you for the mini trampoline goodie! I had one of those many years ago and it was fun! Oh, and I don't jog....my knees are bad! (But I guess if I had a mini trampoline, I could!) Hope you've had a good week and are ready for a healthy weekend.
Hugs,
Pixie
